Oh yeh, didnt twig with the name soz! We dont normally travel that far to be honest (plus there are no league 2 teams up that way really). Next 3 games lined up are all localish but will let you know if we ever venture up that way Smiley

I've said 'he'll play for England' only on 3 occasions whilst describing Cobblers players...

1. Kyle Walker. I was spot on.
2. Mark Bunn. I still stand by this, he just needs a break in the prem.
3. Mark Parsons. Ill get me coat!

I used to play left back, back in the day. OK, it was only at local league level, but I was pretty decent (even though I do say so myself). Can I bring my boots along and give it a go??? I have a fairly decent long throw too!  Grin

Im putting two and two together NORTH EAST COBBLER...Your not actually Ashley Corker are you?

Me too! It might have been after a couple of games but I really said it! I even mentioned it last week on the ex Cobblers goalscoring thread!

Are you saying that it might have been an honour suicide that saw off Sir Jim?

My entire time playing for cobblers fans team I played as a left wing back. The closest you get to a left back in our "style".
I will let you off though... but just because you let me score at 6fields!! Wink

good inreview with Kyle walker in todays evening standard. attributes much of his development to his time at northampton.

"There were players there whose mortgages were on the line and winning football matches made it easier for them to look after their families. You could tell how passionate some of the senior players were by what they did to hang on to the result if we were winning, chucking themselves in front of everything to stop the ball going in."

Nice quote from that article that needs passing on to our current crop.  Mind you, it does say IF we were winning.

I was at Wembley on Tuesday and was proud that Walker had put in a stint at Cobblers. You could see when he was at Sixfields that he was a class act - and he has developed into the perfect right back - power, pace and a cool head! Still a youngster at 21, he should already be a first choice for England.
