I wondered if there were any noises being made about possibly having a smoking area within Sixfields

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?
A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent personified in this case by a sex starved voyeur that is Tyro.

The question was raised in the 'ask the chairman' section on the old site. DC said he'd look into it.

I would advocate this, however i'm sure it won't be allowed due to health and safety issues.

I thought the cubicles in the West Stand toilets (North End) were the designated smoking area? There's plenty of people popping in there for a quick puff at half time.

If memory serves me correctly, last year smoking was allowed at Chesterfield, Accrington, Burton and Lincoln. Bristol Rovers was another one the year before. I'm sure there's health and safety issues to be considered, but there must be a way to let it happen.

There can't be that many smokers that go to games thesedays i'd imagine, surely not too hard to open a gate at half time and let the few that want to stand outside and have a quick ciggy? With the gate being manned it would be very easy to make sure nobody sneaks in, and if they wanted to do it properly they could even stamp your hand, or give you a smokers pass or something!

Can remember as a kid sitting next to my old man as he puffed away, was like spending the game with an exhaust pipe...

I think this was done by Bournemouth a few years back, but might be wrong. It's not illegal for smoking inside the ground, it's just a Football League rule. As long as the football league are satisfied I can't see what the problem is.

It's people going out for a smoke and not coming back in that they'd need stewards for

If you can't go 2 hours without a cigarette that has to be a health issue.

It wasn't too bad in the 'old days' of terracing because you could move away from the smoker. Thats one that is not so good over here, they do allow smoking in the seats. Sometimes we get back home stinking as if we had spent two hours down the old Railway Club! Although allowing the bier, bratties and gluhwein isn't a problem!!
