Inspired by the thread over in the Cobblers section....

Did anyone go to school with anyone known for something and were/are actually friends with them? Could be famous, could be a sportsman/woman, writer, musician, probably best to omit murderers and rapists.  Grin

The two prime local 'celebs' must be Alan Carr and Matt Smith but I've never actually heard anyone admit to knowing them, apart from the usual "He was two years above me".

The only one I have (which is crap) is that I was friends with Genville Donegal (who?!!) and played in the school football team with him. He was a different quality than anyone else at school but obviously not as good as we all thought he was.

I used to sit next to Paul Diggin who plays for the Saints in French at NSB.

Matt Smith was 2 years above me funnily enough (spooky), a couple of people I know claim have been friends with him in school.

Hoping one day someone will say that about me when I'm a famous writer.

I used to sit next to Alex Rodman (then of Nuneaton/Tamworth, now playing in this league with Aldershot) in one of my final year Business seminars at Nottingham Trent University. He's a really sound lad.

Aside from education, I used to play in the same Cobblers centre of excellence age as Liam Dolman and Scott Cross.

I went to school with Pete Walton. 3 schools actually. Pete was captain of the school team at Whitehills. We used wear very long Huddersfield Town shirts but without the badge obviously.

I sat on the same table as Letita Dean in primary school as her parents owned The Hollow Tree Inn Stoke Goldington.

I was in the same school as actor Kelly George and we lived in different streets but could see each other from our bedroom windows.

I had a few weeks in the same class as Lindsey Dawn Mckenzie at Secondary school, if I knew then what I know now, oh boy  Tongue

My sports teacher in Secondary school was Martin Hunter who has coached England U17, Norwich, Watford and now Southampton. First swimming lesson threw me in the deep end and shouted swim, had to be fished out in a net  Sad First day I met him he had an eye patch on, said he had a previous student throw a javelin at him the year before & I fell for it Roll Eyes

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?

A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent personified in this case by a sex starved voyeur that is Tyro.

Not really a celebrity per say, but I sat next to Blake Fielder-Civil in Media studies at college.

I was stood talking to him in "The Lounge" and got bundled out by the bouncers. Apparently he was dealing drugs and they threw me out and banned me too, assuming i was "doing a deal".

Anyway, I guess that was a sign of things to come (for him, not me).
