Been called up to the England Squad.
Is it me or is the current England fiasco rather surreal?!

I think the FA and Capello have gone for the "The more young players we put in the squad, the less chance there is of England fans booing."
Although aren't that many mugs that have parted with good money for a game most of the nation and the players aren't really interested in.

I liked Fielding when he was with us but regardless of this 'lets bring in the young players' mentality that has swept through the media since the world cup, I think this is a big shock. Fielding spent most of last season on loan in the 4th tier of league football and now he is in the England squad. For me this can be read a couple of ways, either this is a stop gap measure as other clubs wont release their English keepers for a meaningless game or we really are struggling to find any decent top flight keepers. If this is the latter then England is in possibly the worst state I have seen in my 25 years of watching football. That next world cup win may elude most of our lifetimes.

I don't see the point to be honest with you.
We all know that Hart will start and that is what we want. Learch will be the second choice and Frankie 3rd. Neither Learch or Frank will be in the next squad for the Euro qualifiers so it all seems a tad too much like Theo Walcott at World Cup 2006 to me

I thought calling up Joe Lewis was a disaster!! This is a complete and total farce. If Fielding is England's current No.3, then Mark Bunn is No.1, because Bunn is better without a shadow of a doubt.

Fielding is in the U21's and Loach has been called up just to see what its like as he's tipped as a future England keeper, and Englands training base is very close to Watford so it makes more sense than calling up James or Green to sit on the bench

I must admit it never crossed my mind we could be watching the future England keeper when we got Fielding on loan. Then again when Crouch came on as Southampton sub I didn't think 'There goes England's next striker and love rat'.

Bunn is No. 4 at Blackburn since Allardyce took over. Was hoping Sheff Utd were gonna sign him at one point and get us some extra cash. Seems a real waste of talent at the moment.

Beg to differ, Mark Bunn and Jason Brown are on equal par at Blackburn it seems, he and Brown both had spells on the bench as back up to Paul Robinson, with Bunn only leaving that position when Sheff Utd came knocking to take him on loan to replace Paddy Kenny.
Frank Fielding Doesnt even get a look in, and as we know he has been loaned out to various lower league clubs, so i think given he's represented the Eng U-21's is maybe the only reason he has got the step up to fill the bench for the senior squad. It's ridiculous he's fourth choice at his parent club and never even made any kind of appearance let alone one in the premiership, surely their must be a keeper of higher ranking to Frank Fielding out there, it's unreal...

Bunny should never have gone to Blackburn really. In my opinion it has stunted his development.
Its not sour grapes, just wonder if he might regret it looking back now?

well, as I work in Blackburn, it definately appears to me that Bunny is nowhere near brown or fielding at the moment and i have to agree with wazza that his time at blackburn hasn't worked out great so far.

Well done to Frankie boy.
This was bad timing arranging this friendly on the FA's part (unless of course we'd have won the World Cup). Too many manager and players already moan about getting tired with their demanding schedules (bless them) so it was only expected that half the so called big guns would pull out. I think the majority of the world cup squad should have played and played their hearts out to prove themselves to the nation, friendly or no friendly.

Fair play Biggy...since the squad numbers were announced Brown and Frankie have buggered off on loan and left Bunny the No.2. Read a feature on Bunny in the Lancashire Telegraph last week and he was really chuffed with his progress this season. He was definately in no-man's land though...all those senior appearances at a young age and then nothing for the last two years.
