Frost covers protect to -7 I think so shouldn't be any problems

Hmmm, games have been called off before with temperatures much "warmer" than that! I thought the covers protected only down to about minus 4/5 anyway...and they would have needed to be on for 5 or 6 days before Saturday. Highly unlikely the game will go ahead IMO.......

Spectator safety as well...

Pretty sure the other year they said the frost covers will cover to around -4. They were on yesterday, I'd imagine it will be a close call. Certainly spectator safety shouldn't come in to play as it hasn't snowed etc.

If we have a game called off because it's -5 12 hours before kick off we ought to pack it in as a nation.

I think I'm right in saying that soil temperature is usually double that of the air temperature as an estimate so for the soil to reach -4/5 the air temperature would have to be -8/10. As previously mentioned the covers will have been on for a few nights so everything should be fine and the three points will be ours!

It has been cancelled before due to ice stairways around the stadium, I would say that is the biggest concern!!!

They didn't have any covers on and it was cancelled tdue to parts of the pitch being frozen.

Little Boy Bingers still played his Sunday morning game for the all conquoring Bingley Juniors u-8s t'other week when it was -2. We had to scrape the frost off withour feet to see where the touchline was. Mind you, it was astroturf. He won 9 - 1 in case you were wondering.

There's been alot of uncertainty about the weather forecast for the weekend, this is the latest from Pitsford. Frontal systems will begin to move in from the west on Saturday. Whilst the morning will be fine with increasing cloud, the leading edge of this weather system is likely to produce a significant fall of snow across the county during the afternoon, continuing overnight into Sunday. There is the potential for this snow to cause some travel disruption. Highs on Saturday will rise to around just 1C, falling overnight to around freezing. As always with the weather, it's subject to change.
