The fourth one was a terrible challenge - no intention of playing the ball with that one!
Gotta say, the Hereford goal was a good one :-)

Times change! Have to say, they were lucky only to have four sent off, some of those challenges were outrageous...although, doesn't the game have to be abandoned as soon as one team has less than seven, in which case why didn't they go for one more?

Because they were playing us and thought they could push for a winner

Great shots at the start of the Hotel End (the orginal one) and Rob Marshall selling WALOC (the orginal and classic What a Load of Cobblers fanzine!) It was a big match as you can tell from the size of the crowd. I remember we came in hope but left crushed and desolate Why can't our emotions at Cobblers' games be allowed to go from to just once in a while ?

Anyone remember the home game against Bournemouth where we scored 6 goals in the first half? It was ages ago, and I was standing on Spion Kop on a sunny Saturday, and we were kicking towards the Hotel End, so I didn't get the best view of the action. I was looking forward to a goalfest in the second half, but we didn't score again, and it ended 6-0.

Yes I was at that one - Jim Hall got three - and the second half was such an anticlimax.

It was 1975/76 season I was there with my grandad in the main stand (spion kop end). I dont remember much as I was only 6 at the time. I remember my grandad saying a few years ago the the 2nd goal was scored in the 36th minute so we scored 5 of the 6 goals in the last 10 mins of the 1st half. I wish we could have a home record like we did in that 1975/76 season http://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/LeagueTables/Season1975-76/ClubResults/1975-76NorthamptonTown.html

I dont know if this is in the video but I have a vague memory of a player scoring a header then following the ball into the net and riping the net from the goal post holding the game up for a few mins (my grandad said it was Billy Best but he wasnt sure if it was this Bournemouth game).

That's correct. It was Billy Best - he scored a header from close range and his momentum took him in to the goal, pulling th enet down. They had to send a bloke out with some tape to fix it back on. I too was stood on the Spion Kop that day, expecting a second half goal fest that never came

I've not seen him since we got tonked by Notts County a few years ago. Might have been Sammo's first game in charge. It was outside a pub surprisingly enough. He was drinking real ale as you would expect from such a discerning gentleman.

I was stood on the Spion Kop for that game as well, I can't remember why because I normally stood on the Hotel?
