What surprises me most is the complete lack of football knowledge that some on here display.
I am not suggesting for one second that I am gifted with a better insight into these things than others. But I definately tend to take a more rounded (no jokes about weight
) perspective than some do.
Silva without a doubt is a very talented young lad, who has honed is skills in a completely different background to the style of football he is being asked to accommodate currently. Although he did start very well, I would consider this more a case of raw talent, rather than any suggestion that he has sussed out English league 2 football. I know it is inconceivable to some on here that he might take some time to acclimatise to hoofball, played by less than refined counterparts, but there is a very good chance that is the case.
It is ridiculous to assume that a coach like Aidy Boothroyd, with his arsenal of coaching tactics, has decided the best approach with Silva is to "rule with an iron rod". When Aidy opted to go for a loan until the end of the season I doubt if it was decided on the outcome of a stern talking to with the lad. Without doubt Boothroyd saw talent that if channelled right and if strengthened by a better awareness of the league we are in, would reap results.
I have enough confidence in Boothroyd to believe that his knowledge extends a bit further than chastising players into better performances.
