I guess the problem is, some teams are always going to be on the furthest south/east/north/westerly points of a region and end up like us, shunted in a region with barely any teams within an hour's drive.

With Poxford and Stevenage (not Boro anymore) joining the league, both just south of us, that would be why we've now being giving a charming trip oop north on a Tuesday night.

2nd November 2004 Torquay Utd 1 - 3 Northampton Town 84 Cobblers fans

23rd November 2005 Colchester Utd 3 - 2 Northampton Town AET Away fans not confirmed (guessed at 100)

20th January 2010 Macclesfield Town 0 - 2 Northampton Town Away fans not confirmed (guessed at 100)

Can anyone think of any others?

I'm going for 56 away fans at Hartlepool.

93 went to brighton the year bayo and virgo got sent off

A game which I missed, probably for the same reasons as many others - £21.50 to sit nearer the beach than the pitch is plain wrong.

Torquay in the LDV on the other hand was a hoot of a night out in their old wooden stand. I dare say they'll shove us in the home seats at Viccy Park. We'd look a little lonesome behind that goal on our own.

Is anybody else other than me and Tyler actually considering going?!

Yep, I'm definately going.

Just got back from 10 days in the Alps and this is superb news for me - I foresaw it as well.  The only downside is I'm working in Hartlepool again two days later, but its only an hour and forty, so its not the end of the world.  I might even let (Not So) Little Boy Bingers go as well as its the holidays still.

Anyway, what was I saying about the hardcore?

I'm seriously considering it.

1) I haven't been to the ground and want it over and done with.
2) I'm a student bumming around doing nothing until term starts in September. It will be nice to get out of the house Grin

Reply from the Football League... fairy nuff s'pose.

Hi Mark,

Many thanks for your email, I can sympathise with your frustrations.

However unfortunately the reason for this is because Northampton are one of the most “North Eastern” clubs in the competition this season. Both League One and League Two have an unavoidable southern bias this season and unfortunately this has resulted in clubs such as Northampton, Peterborough and Walsall being drawn in the ‘North East’ section.

Whilst we fully appreciate your frustrations, we would hope this would not be replicated too often in future seasons. May I thank you for taking the time to email us, your comments have been noted and passed onto the competitions department.

Kind regards

Amanda

Surely we are one of the most Southern, Northern Eastern sides?!?!?!?

Because I think they split into so equal sides from each division, we need to lose some Southern sides this season, both out and up from L1, and from L2 (not us LOL) and hope some Northern sides come up from Blue Sq.

Independant Supporters Club are DEFINITELY running a 51-seater, with toilet, to Hartlepool. There were 21 booked on as of last night so plenty of room for a few more.

Any takers should contact Paul Lawrence on 07939 518228.

£15 for the coach, departs at 13:00 Sixfields and will include the usual CISC pub stop.

Colchester only took 66 up Sunderland last night for the Carling cup game,so we could end up taking more than them for a lesser cup match

Just back from holiday so a little late in the day now for this post, but could the game not have been played on the Monday afternoon? It's a Bank Holiday, would probably have attracted a few more people from both clubs to go and reduced the costs ie floodlights etc. Ok so both teams would have plyed 48 hours earlier but that have been such a big deal?

I would have been able to go if it was held on B/H

I'll probably be boosting the away end with half a dozen or so of my workmates from Middlesbrough.  Ironic, I have a season ticket, and due to work, it'll be the second game I make this season!  Hope that tips the balance and at least gets us some way up toward beating our lowest ever.  I do seem to remember counting 26 (I think) Exeter fans on the Spion Kop for an 85-86 2-2 draw.
