Unfortunately, having played x hundred games for the club doesn't take anything away from the fact that Gilligan is not a very nice guy a c***.

Appleton wasn't there to watch Jacobs, he was there to watch another of our players.

Why the need to be cryptic? If you know who he was watching why not share it? You're posting on a football message board not working deep cover in the intelligence business!

I wasn't being "cryptic" as you put it. I was merely correcting the assumption that he was there to watch Jacobs because he wasn't. I've given you that much so no need to get your knickers in a twist, love.

Yawn! You might get others to bite but I'm afraid I'm not that kind of boy. Years of posting on here has taught me that those who claim to know things but refuse to spill the beans normally know f**k all.

Michael Appleton was also at Sixfields for the game vs Oxford. Portsmouth are at present still a Championship club although does anyone know if they have a transfer embargo against them again?
Also I'm guessing Ryan Gilligan isn't happy with some of today's goings on? From his twitter: "What a total shambles, the things I'm seeing are disgraceful, a lot of good people being ****ed about & treated with a lack of respect!"
He's spouting more tripe on twitter again today. The lad needs to put a sock in it and focus all his efforts on trying to get a new club. Things aren't looking good for him at the minute and I have a feeling he could have a shock coming in a few months when he's forced back into the real world. Are B&Q still recruiting?

Who was the player Appleton was looking at and who did we reject a bid from?

I don't know who Appleton was looking at. The bid for Jacobs was from derby. I don't know who the bid for akinfenwa was from but it was a six figure sum.

Portsmouth aren't in a position to sign anyone at the moment because first of all the administrator has to trim the wage bill to manageable proportions. That's easier said than done: first one they need to get out of the door is apparently Ben Haim who is claimed to be on £36k a week.
Assuming Pompey get new owners (and the Pompey Trust is in the running to take them over) then following a major league clear out, Appleton will need to rebuild most of the squad. My guess is that he would have been looking at one of the youngsters, maybe John Johnson, possibly Adams (although doubt that) - maybe Tozer.
It certainly wouldn't have been Jacobs because there's no way Portsmouth will be able to pay a fee. It may have been Carlisle though. Then again it may have been an Oxford player, although probably not. Stuart Gray is a coach at Pompey so may have given him one or two pointers.

It has to be "B" Another big smile on my face. I always get the big decisions right.
Couldn't be happier, you can all blame me if it turns pear shaped. Up next year without a doubt and no need of the play-offs.

what has he said today? I tried to look but his account it set to private. I do feel for him to some extent having been a good servant to the club (I was a fan I know many arent) but equally dont know what he has done behind closed doors. (if anyone would like to PM me the reason it would be appreaciated)

What you mean a bit like Southampton weren't the day they emerged from administration and promptly paid a million odd quid for the bloke who has almost single handedly taken them to back to back promotions? !!

Seeing as you've got 1,500 posts you've probably been contributing to this site for as long as I have. You may recall that I got called a bulls*itter by more than one poster on here last summer for daring to suggest Shaun Harrad's name had been circulated to other clubs as he wasn't in Gary Johnson's plans this season. I wasn't at liberty to say at the time who'd told me that but I'm pretty sure upon review I was proved right in the end. Going back to Appleton, I don't personally think the player in question will end up at Pompey but I think it'd be unwise of me to disclose their name on this public messageboard especially as the season hasn't finished yet. Anyway, I'm as bored as you are about the subject so that's the last I'll be saying on the matter. You'll have to find someone else to strop at in the meantime.
