So, what would people do?
I've been following the saga very closely, checking out the latest on poppynet each day. It really is sad whats happening over there. I think in summary:
*IL had the right intentions but ran out of cash. His last throw of the dice was Nene Park...once that proved a helpless case he lost total interest.
*The move to NP has totally split the support base. Can see the reasons why they did, can see the reasons why they should have stayed at RR. Horses for courses, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
*The saga has gone on for so long now that most of their fans have given up. The ones left are arguing between themselves
*Starting a new club again theres a total divide of opinion. Until its 'the end' many want to tough it out but the numbers are dwindling. Surely the numbers are not high enough for it not to end in tears in its current format?
*Football at any level below league 2 is not sustainable at NP. It doesn't matter how many weddings, funerals, parties that are held there, its never likely to cover the overheads. If R&D couldn't make it work/profitable over a 15 year period, much of it during a booming economy...then what chance have KTFC got?
So, my question is...what would we do if for instance the club moved out of town (was pretty much forced to due to politics/ground issues/funding etc) to its nearest and hated rival (lets say MK in this instance)? Would you still go? Would you buy a season ticket?
I've got to say that I would throw it in. Northampton Town FC would be no more, playing outside of the postcode area. If of course there was no intention from the club to move back. (R&D have a 25 year lease at NP).
More options open to us than KTFC thankfully...
Worst case scenario would be to share with Saints...out of town would be a no no
