Do the maths - where in the current structures would 10,000 seats go? It can't be done now without significantly re-developing one or more of the other stands, which isn't going to happen. This is why the whole "it will be alright in the end" argument made by some on here was so pathetic. We will never have a 10,000-capacity Sixfields under the current ownership.
I was always under the impression that the stands were built in such a way that you could rip the roof off and extend backwards without too much drama. Extend either the North or South stand to triple it's current capacity or both to double their current capacity and we get the magical 10,000. Build a concourse into it for bars etc and there you go. Job done, let the money roll in.

And yet it could have worked so much cheaper (in the long run) if they'd employed a proper construction manager to oversee the East stand project. Then it may have been built right.

banana is absolutely on the money.
The east stand was shrunk to accommodate more housing, not for "commercial sense." If extra seats were not viable just a few months ago why all this talk of extending the north and south?
Commercial sense would have been to put the extra seats in the east stand allowing the other stands to be extended later if necessary. DC seems to think we we're born yesterday, but don't disagree as he doesn't like that despite it being bleeding obvious.
The Watford example is also relevant as it's a clear costing comparison. It shows we clearly had enough to build an equivalent with commercial facilities/boxes for 7m, what we're apparently paying for a few boxes tacked behind an existing stand.

Now that work has restarted and is clearly in full flo I'm happy to sit back and see what we get before commenting on 'value for money'. Of course I have my doubts it will be what we should get given the level of 'investment' and they are not small doubts! HOWEVEVER. This will be proof in the pudding, one way or another. Will DC deliver? We shall find out soon enough. Will the stands be built behind the goals? Again we will know either way imminently. So I shall sit back, enjoy the summer and hope that come August we will have a ground fit for purpose. Or at least one that's well on its way to being so. Cannot see the point of moaning about it at the moment, negative energy. A few weeks ago it was justified given all of the continuing delays but we are where we are so we look ahead with very cautious optimism both on and off the pitch!

Been through this. Cardoza resigns chairmanship but retains ownership. Appoints somebody with a clue to run the club. Alternative enough?

At this rate, the East Stand might be completed before the 'new' Trust website!

Isn't that what we've done with the East? After all, the base is still there and 10 rows of steps for seats are still there, and the roof has been ripped off and we've extended backwards....a bit!! Doesn't seem to have gone too well thus far though does it?

So you would use your money to buy a Porche and let somebody else drive it while you pay for the fuel?............................I doubt you would!!!

I would if I wasn't a very good driver lol, you beat me to it!! If I had the feeling I was going to crash it every time I got behind the wheel i'd employ myself a decent driver who could ferry me around as and when I instructed, sure it would be my car and i'd be paying for the fuel, but I'd be feeling that I was in safer hands whilst still enjoying the ride!

Porsche? Ford Cortina which he's been trying to find the parts to soup up it up with the past 12 years. He's found some from a Fiesta and he's going to try and force them to fit. They won't, of course, and now he's just wishing he'd took it to a proper mechanic that knows what they're doing in the first place.

The difference between the East and potential North/South development is all the extra boxes, suites, restaurants etc being incorporated. The East could/should have had an extra 10 rows of seats PLUS the extras and we'd have got the magical 10000. That was the original plan of course. Any simple extending of North or South will be significantly cheaper than the East. DC is in talks with Buckinghams, but where is the money going to come from which is why I'm sceptical this would be happening any time soon.

How about DC resigns as chairman. Then the next time we are in the bottom 2 over Christmas when the manager says we need new players in to save us the new chairman says sorry can't do now. Then we can all look forward to following Stockport's 5 year plan. UTC
