Atmospheric - The PR company that released the statement was London-based (surprise, surprise) PHA Media.

Maybe the "insurmountable complications" was another buyer came in who had a lot more money?
No... maybe not then!

Oh yeah, maybe its those other parties we've signed "heads of terms agreements" with....... Wink

I guess we are as far away as we were 16 weeks ago then.....because anyone else who was serious would have to go through the same rigmarole as this consortium did.

In fact, if anyone wishes to pester the spokesman on behalf of PHA to see if he is willing to shed anymore light on the matter, his e-mail address is timj@pha-media.com.

Good luck with that.  Not sure that's quite how PR works...

I imagine this phantom Indian consortium was just a front in order to gain interest from other prospective buyers without coming across as desperate.

What an almighty mess our football club is in and its very sad to see. I can only hope that we are brought by someone who has the best interests of our great football club at heart and we can move on from this saga.

I don't know whether this is good news or not? Maybe a bit of both!

I'll take it from this that the "consortium" was indeed genuine, did exist at some point, and di have great plans and the backing needed to bring those plans to fruition. So if it wasn't a case of any fault at their end it all points to the books. They took their time, went through things thoroughly, and in the end said no. Too much of a risk to take on board.

I don't get the "starved of investment" bit though......the club had a £12m loan facility from the council.....when has there ever been more investment in the club by anyone? It is how that investment has been (ab)used which is the problem.

Lets be honest, if the club had done things properly, used the money wisely, and had built what they were meant to have had built, we wouldn't even be talking about a takeover, because Cardozas plans, what he's been waiting for all these years, would have happened and we'd be sitting pretty. The talk of outside investment, takeovers and the like only came to light after things went wrong.

Phantom consortium? I did think that but now i'm more convinced it was for real...however hidden their intentions were.

Do you think this is all a big game of bluff orchestrated by DC? Coincidental that it came out on the day the biggest selling UK daily newpaper ran a feature on events at Sixfields.....?

Well what a surprise. Wonder what excuse we will be treated to next.
And we still don't know who they were! The Invisible Men.

I guess they means a town the size of Northampton should have had the sort of investment Swansea/Hull had at a much earlier stage seeing as we have the infrastructure to support it.

David Cardoza ntfc Official site 25th September 2015...

"Talks regarding the takeover are taking longer than anyone would have hoped but they are progressing and are close to being concluded but it is a complex, legal situation that takes time," he said.

"That is frustrating for everyone but that is the situation. We fully intend to complete the takeover with the proposed new owners but there is significant other interest in the club should things change.

----------------------------------------------------------

David Cardoza ntfc Official site 12th October 2015 (17 days later)

"We moved on to talk to other parties some time ago. The Indian consortium had a few months to move things forward and conclude things but it became apparent they were not progressing matters.

"There are a number of other interested parties and as it became more and more apparent things were not proceeding with the Indian consortium, then we began talking with these other parties. We have made significant progress in these talks to a position where things are now well advanced.

We are only aware of the collapse of the takeover because the "Indian Consortium" issued a press release. Otherwise we would still be in the dark and some would continue to believe a deal was going to be announced at the 11th hour. As usual, DC is way off the pace. His statement today could have been made weeks ago. Hopeless.

Who do you want him to hand the keys over to?

The cleaner? He could even leave it on the latch.

Thanks for that, was hoping to dig out that earlier quote myself! Outrageous.

I guess they means a town the size of Northampton should have had the sort of investment Swansea/Hull had at a much earlier stage seeing as we have the infrastructure to support it.

At the end of the day we are a league 2 side that had a ground built for us by the Council at a cost of £7.5m, has had investment from the Cardoza family in the sum of £7.5m in the last 12 years and has had a loan from the Council of £10.25m in the last couple of years.

So thats over £25m of investment, before you add in the deals from the University, David Jackson and others in recent times. By my reckoning the club has had £30m of investment in the last 20 years.......and look where we are now!!

Why does he insist on constantly calling them the "Indian" consortium?

...and yet in DC's statement (official site) he sees no need to make mention of the fact that, by the end of the week, we might be in a position that NBC could issue a court order against us for a debt that we've presumably got no obvious means to repay?!  Huh?

To differentiate them in his mind from the "English consortium" he's about to fictionalise.

This is exactly what pis*es me off the most about the guy. Just be honest with us FFS. I would really like one of the reporters to question his quote and ask exactly why he chooses to continue to lie and deceive us.
