Taken from the Bradford City forum...

It is good that the capacity is there, should they move up
wards, or, should they do a really cheap ticket deal, it will come in handy. A bit like VP really.

I watched Hercules (Alicante) last month, only about 7k there in a 30k stadium, but a few years back in La Liga, they needed those seats, there is no point in not having capacity in an area with a decent population.

We dont need to piggyback on the Saints success that they gradually  built up over these past 30 years, not that they would allow it anyway.

Saints success  Grin Grin

As you lovingly refer to the Saints as the model to which we should all aspire, let's use their current sitution to counter your point.

They increased their capacity as their success grew. Now they can't fill the ground and have annonced a 1.2 million pound loss. They are projected to hit nearly a 3 million loss within the next 18 months. Which means they are going to need to cut the playing budget to try to even out the books. Which in turn means they will probably sink lower and the support base dwindle further. Had they kept the same size staduim (in which they enjoyed their greatest success) and saved rather than borrowed, they wouldn't be in the position they are.

So your speculate to accumulate model has them screwed presumably??

The Saints model is irrelevant as they will be playing as 'MK Saints' in a 30,000 all seater stadium within 5 years???

The chairman is on record as saying we will see east stand development April/May 2018 and that it's not economically feasible to knock it down and start again, and that what we'll end up with will be nowhere close to an ideal vision of that side of the ground BUT will be better than what we have.
If he does not deliver on it then that's the time to protest.
Ive never heard the April / May 2018 date before Steve, when did he say that?

Last I heard, I thought he was 'hoping' works would re-commence sometime during this season, or have I got that wrong? Where/when did he announce Apr/May 2018?

Im not taking sides here but asking KT anything direct is a complete and utter waste of time. I've tried it!

He is the most skilful person I've ever met at being able to avoid answering the question with anything that resembles a direct answer. Better than any politician!

Every 'tough question' is met with legal/confidentiality type excuses to avoid answering it. As well as the 'over promise, under delivery' line that is trotted out to excellent effect to the masses!  Grin

I do think he's a good 'un though and will sort the ground out at some point. The business plan of spending way above our means on players must have a positive end game target given the monies involved. Otherwise it would make zero sense. Our investors certainly are not in it for egotisitcal purposes, otherwise they would be shouting from the rooftops! Instead of being very very low profile…

So Im pretty chilled about it. But suggesting that people ask him questions direct is pointless!

You didn't listen to Radio Northampton tonight, then? Otherwise you'd know they are only here for the education side of things...seriously, apparently that's it.

The Saints last home game was a rainy Friday night that was shown live on tv which traditionally is a lower gate due to travel as 40% travel in from all over, but still a very healthy 14,000 turned up at the ground.
At £38 a ticket, thats not bad.
The Saints Supporters demand that the challenge for all competitions especially the aviva premiership and the top European competition and if that means throwing money at it, so be it. So this year like Sarries, Wasps and other big hitters they are not strictly  keeping to the pay cap but giving it a go, which when you consider they have a turn over of over £17m they can afford to push the boat out chasing silver ware, its what their supporters demand.
Thats a bit different from our long suffering fan base who are happy with a burger van and an extra door in the bogs.
They would eat Thomas alive if he ever became chairman at the Saints spouting his time wasting belittling nonsence with them.
The Saints have turned a profit 11 of the last 12 seasons,
Chelsea just lose money year on year.
The Cobblers are in a state of limbo just dormant not trading properly in a tiny ground unable to grow its product.

Sorry to dredge up a relatively old post (first time I've been on here in a while), but Sixfields could not have hosted Tuesdays game.

Sixfields capacity:7,798
So home capacity (with no south mixing): 7,798 - 900 South Stand = ~6898

Attendance at Wigan:7777-292away =  7,485 home fans

So to match that attendance and assuming no away / home mixing in south end we would need to increase capcity to 8,385.

Good work on the figures and therefore the facts

Two things.

Firstly: You need to move your crosshairs to the appropriate target for your vitriol. As Kelvin and his friends are no longer the majority stake holder, he cannot be held accountable for any future development.

Secondly: Your posts used to suggest a simmering resentment of KT. These days you seem a lot more angry.

To be fair, it would be difficult for Beds (or anyone else for that matter) to realign crosshairs on an alternative target, given that next to nothing is known about our new holding company, or the money men behind this company. Indeed, Kelvin Thomas still won't admit they are 'new owners', instead insisting they are just 'partners'. So, in spite of the fact that I align with the consensus with regards BedsCobb's constant diatribe, he hasn't really got a viable target other than our chairman.

When Thomas had announced we had new investment from China, great we all thought, things might actully happen now in order to build up our club... but he himself turns up at the Q and A and in my opinion, from the way he speaks, his body language, we hear  the same old belittling tone and the no can do  nonsense that we're all pretty tired listening too now for over 20 years.
Why is he even here if he thinks were so unworthy of a little sustainable  investment?  Maybe its just to get the council land behind the ground that Cardozas lot had and lost ?
Whatever it is I hope for the sake of our Clubs future, it gets a fair share of any windfall that comes from OUR clubs land as when this oppertunity is gone, its gone for ever!

Ive been accused of hating on Thomas and snipping at everything he says, but if only for once he would actually point out whats in it for all parties and the benefits there of..we could all get on board and make it happen?
Surely its now time for him to pi55 or get off the pot to avoid wasting any more valuble  time?

You appear to have answered a different point to the one I made. Regardless of other comments on here, KT is now effectively a paper tiger. Anything to do with the redevelopment is now determined in China. Give them a shout Dave  Tongue Grin Tom Ayeung's your chap.

Not really true Tel, KT has the golden handcuffs on and as such is there representative so he not only has a moral obligation but also a legal one as chairman

Are you saying TFAMH, that Thomas is trying to hide behind the Chinese investment as to deflect the responsibility of building up the club as he has shown little interest in doing so these past 2 years?

I think there might be some legal stuff going on that's holding back the redevelopment, sure I read that somewhere.

Fully understand that there maybe legal matters that are holding up the  process for completing the East Stand. What i find strange is there appears to be no plans available as to what will be done to complete it. They have already stated that the Stand will not be taken down and replaced with something more fit for purpose, but why no details as to what will be done. Nothing, no clue, no ideas , nothing.
