Wake up mate. If we were breaking even why we we not paying our bills. We had staff, not well paid employees, and local companies not getting paid. The alternative solutions involved in at least one case administration ripping off local companies and backroom staff. There was no credible alternative.
If I am wrong name them.
The end of year results implied that we were breaking even......but that was due to Directors loans going in....much the same as now. The income does not pay the outgoings...... At the end of the Cardoza reign, the family had stopped putting money in.....if anything money was going out to pay back those loans. Cashflow dried up, tax bills went unpaid, staff wages were deferred.....it was a mess at the end...nobody can dispute that!

The funny thing is. Random doesn't know what he wants. Berating all comers for doing nothing and he's doing nothing. Brilliant.

The new plan is to destroy the "Lego Stand". There is a view that the Club needs to go back to its Heritage..... So, "Safe Standing" will allow a stand of similar capacity as was originally drawn-up. But, a new "Cricket-Side" will have a much smaller foot-print, allowing enough space for Cordoza's original housing plan to prevail. More houses = more money for the big Cheeses.... Isn't it about time you all stopped pretending to be Computer-Game Football Managers and accepted reality? ?? You live in a Capitalist World. You voted for it. You lose your arse as a consequence. Kiss "Theirs".

The local consortium would have paid the tax bill and despite the concerns over their long term suitability it's hard to believe we would be in as bad a position as we are now under the KT regime.
That’s an interesting point. If we were currently under the control of a group of well meanibg but cash strapped local businessmen it’s unlikely we would be worse off than we are now.

When the income fails to match the outgoings its the owners fault if its not by design. It has been extremely hard for the town and catchment of NTfC to embrace the club and back what it is its trying to do being kept at arms length under the control of these past 2 owners, so not even close to maximising its potential turnover. League 2 football is a great turn off with its low quality football and unattractive little town teams so the club has got to expect to lose money trying to and more often than not failing to escape it. To his credit, at first Thomas did look like he understood the fundamental principles of building up a football club to be a growing and profitable concern with the full backing of the clubs fans... but then did the very thing that always ends badly, he failed to engage with the town and tried to survive in league one with such poor infrastructure just as many tried previously only to succumb to the Sixfields curse. Belittling the club as things turned for the worse, focused all his attention on the NBC and the prospect of land deals, led him to witness at first hand our Achilles heel, which had he asked or checked the history books would have forecasted the inevitable.

That's your best post ever Melbourne. Drink more beer mate!
can't argue with anything except 1 & 2. Technically he saved the club by paying £160k but others were trying to do so but were blocked by DC as he said KT has exclusivity. How much did KT pay DC for that?
2. Would think that DC spent much more than KT when signing Low, Smith, Gypes,Taylor and the likes. Also KT received a good amount for RH, although DC sold Chambers and Johnson.
CW. Given Melbourne post is that the same hignsight for KT? It's not though is it, the lack of action/change was so clear to see from KT, especially as he was following on from DC who had spent the previous 5 years trying to scrape back every penny he could from the club.
I’m never drinking again, what have I said now? FFS I’m even getting back handed compliments from Randemonium?

I noticed that the huge PTS stadium sign is no longer up outside the west stand. I wonder if it fell down during the strong winds earlier in the week?

Northampton Town Verified account @ntfc 1m1 minute ago More For those asking about the big sign outside the stadium, following safety advice from our signage partner and in view of high winds over last few days, the sign has been temporarily removed. The sign will be put back up ahead of the next home game. https://twitter.com/ntfc/status/1043484401110319104

How would people weigh up Kelvin Thomas and David Bower's time at the club. It's worth considering the pros and cons of their tenures and what they have and haven't delivered.
Pros
1.Won the league or finished the job at least. 2. More professional set up. 3. Investment in training ground at Moulton. 4. Youth team doing pretty well. 5.Match day experience better (bar the performances). 6. Improved community work. 7. Built relationship with University. 8.Tie in with Nike which the Kids buy into. 9. Educational work inc St Crispins site. 10. Possibly cleared up the lease issues meaning a new investment can finish work on East. 11. Investigated safe standing. 12. Better relationship with business community. 13. Steadied the ship and ensured we didn't get demoted down the divisions.
Cons
1. Haven't finish the East Stand 2. Haven't invested the £4 million mentioned on takeover. Or it appears that way, happy to be corrected. 3. Relegation battle into non-league. 5. Problematic investment from Chinese. 6. Problematic player and management recruitment.
The cons surrounding ambition, let's not call them promises on the takeover are a major bugbear for Random and Beds etc but what's done is done.
Different people will say the pros outweigh the cons and vice versa.
Overall though, Thomas' and Bower's legacy will be defined by their next moves. If they pass on the club to new owners who truly have the Cobblers and the fans at heart and in a reasonable financial condition then fair enough. Let's hope the asking price is reasonable too.
Quite a few ifs in there but a fair summary for me.

In answer to meccanostand, overall I think they have done well but there is plenty of room for improvement. I tend to look at a club like Stevenage as a model for what we could improve upon. It's a very progressive club. Their stadium is on the same road as their first team and academy training grounds. Both training grounds have been utilised in recent years. The chairman admitted he didn't have funds for a new stand so they crowd-funded it with additional grants. It's being built presently. They have an U23s which they used pre-season to give experience to some of their U18s and a few U16s. Although our current owners have done a very good job in increasing revenue from the commercial and catering side - and not forgetting the link up with Nike - I don't believe they have the interest or passion to improve the club further. That's fine. I respect that. They have done an awful lot to make us a more viable and appealing club for someone else to invest in. Because of the problems on the pitch, they are judged harshly in my opinion. When/ if they leave, I will be grateful for the time and work they've done and our continued survival.

If the current owners were committed to our club, long term, I would be more than happy but the Chron article today suggests they are keen to move on.
