Much better as a car park.

As ever, thanks for the update GPC

Is the announcement to the general public or just to the club?

What's your hunch, will this deal appease everyone so that bloomin' stand can finally get finished?

Or will the revised land valuation be too much for KT/DB to swallow?

The leader of the Council has said there will be an update so Iím guessing it will be public.

My hunch is that not much if anything will have changed, but with a proper valuation they will be on a firmer legal footing going forward.

Appreciate the updates GPC.
Would it be fair to assume the update will be little more than they've received the updated valuation and will be reviewed at cabinet meeting in March (cant see it on the Agenda for next Tuesday or any other meetings in the Calendar)

I think the council said there would be a separate meeting to specifically discuss the sixfields land deal, once the concrete red book valuation was received, so I guess that will be the next step before it goes to any cabinet meeting...

is this the land that 2 years down the road nobody wants and is still up for sale? presumably because it's unsuitable for anything
That is incorrect.
It was/is suitable as a car park.

Sorry but for clarity are you critisisng the owners for allowing someone to sell their land or for not buying land that no one else wants to either?

The land was rented off the HCA (or one of its many predecessors) by the football club. That land was put up for sale and remained for sale for a while, before it was sold to a developer. The club had the opportunity to buy that land then.
They of course could do so now, but Iíd guess there will be a premium on it, ie the developer would want more than they paid for it.

To me I find it strange that there is a plot of uncontaminated clean land there which nobody wants, yet some people believe there a a queue of people ready to buy the contaminated land which is part of the proposed land deal between CDNL and the Council.

Of course I will also add in a caveat that when you think about it, it doesn't make much business sense for someone (the Club for example) to pay hundreds of thousands for a plot of land only to use it as a car park and bring in a grand a game! It would take said land a long time to pay for itself.......!

We do seem to have managed without it (the South car park) anyway, just as we have without the "Claret Car Park" which was originally meant to be used for football parking.

So you'd like the club to spend thousands upon thousdands of pounds on a piece of wasteland in order to park 300 cars on it for 46 hours a year? that really doesn't sound like very good buisness.

So....hot off the press.....

The Council will publish an update to the land and stand deal tomorrow, Friday. The Trust Board have been invited to a Zoom meeting at 6pm tomorrow evening to discuss the finer points of the deal and to make any comments.

A "special" meeting of the Council will take place on 21st February specifically to discuss the deal, this will be open to the public, details to follow from the Council.

The feedback from that will be taken on board by those present and then the Council Cabinet will meet, again in an "extraordinary" Council meeting with just the one item on the agenda, on 28th February and at this meeting it is expected that a final yes/no decision to the deal will be given.

We are led to believe that the terms of the deal and the major points surrounding the finances and structure of the deal are pretty similar to those proposed back in October/November.

I will of course feed back what I can from the meeting with the Council tomorrow night, by which time the deal details will be back in the public domain.

Thanks for the heads up GPC, looking forward to the official council update, along with details from the trust zoom meeting tomorrow evening...

Hopefully, the club, trust & council can now all pull together to finally get this resolved...

With Brady & Co exceeding expectations on the field this could not happen at a better time...
