I am not on Facebook and I don't use Twitter or any other social media platform but I would like to reassure Peter (and others ) that:
1. The vast majority of the Trust board were absolutely delighted with last season and we are looking forward to being competetive in League 1 next season.
2. The board has freash ideas about improving the infrastructure at Sixfields and increasing our membership by improving our profile.
3. Like everyone else we await the outcome of the JR but we remain committed to trying to get the best outcome for the club and its supporters when it comes to the land deal.
Of course we are not all of one opinion and there are differences of views but I reiterate that in my opinion the board is currently healthily committed to progress both on and off the field.

The faint praise on the achievements of last season was noted! Whoever compiled the newsletter struggled to contain their excitement and joy!  Roll Eyes

I've desperately been trying to avoid commenting on any Trust related stuff because a) after attending the AGM I was hopeful for a fresh start and a more positive relationship between the Trust and both the club & the wider support and b) the on-field stuff was so positive it felt wrong to drag things down with more pointless, internecine squabbling.

However, could I ask for some clarification on this comment, Bhyll? Saying "the vast majority of" rather than simply  "the Trust board" implies that one or more members of the board weren't happy to see us get promoted.

If that's the case, I'd suggest they have rather lost sight of why we all follow Northampton Town and would politely suggest that they should probably find a new hobby.

It’s pretty obvious as a promotion cannot be used as a negative against the owners in any shape of form.
Not long to wait before they can be back with criticism of insufficient backing in league one, unless heavens forbid we do rather well.
The main clue being not even bothering to attend games.

Thank you, good post and completely reasonable - but please do not interpret the term “usual suspects” as an all embracing term for the Trust - it’s not and I worry such an association is made - you may or may not be aware of the individuals I refer but I can assure you a very high percentage of their postings are directly or indirectly offering criticism of NTFC owners - personally I find that sad after an excellent season both on and off the pitch. Finally I would add on the subject of Trust members and board I would be extremely surprised and disappointed if even a single individual was not celebrating to the full the outcome at Prenton Park and I certainly wouldn’t start being picky on your term “the overwhelming majority “

I can think of one who cant be arsed, and one who lives in Canada, has numerous involvements with other clubs trusts, and has probably never been to Sixfields.
I was hoping that the new local board members might keep their members informed of what happens, not provide little cryptic clues. Still, plenty of time for that to change..

Just to clarify, I personally wasn't asking Bhyll to name any names as I think that's unfair. I was just asking for clarification on if it is as it sounds from his last post, because if it is that is problematic.

That is correct, you did not ask Merry Comrade to name any names. I however did.
If you dont want to do so Bhyll, then fair enough. But dangle little bits of info, and you must expect people to respond.

I was just very surprised by the muted celebration, in contrast to the wider support base.

I have faith, that one day the club and the Trust will once again achieve common ground.

You mention an excellent season off the pitch, I’d be interested what you base the term excellent on? - for me the impact the football club has had on the wider community has been excellent and worthy of a lot of praise.
The sooner the chancers we have as owner are gone the better. - perhaps, but always be careful on what you wish for

I think the (royal) we are being a bit picky here - I suspect Merry Comrade used the term vast majority rather than everyone simply to illustrate there are a broad spectrum of opinions rather than they were specific individuals that were not happy we were promoted - it's actually not an unreasonable view that a club is not ready for promotion to a higher level - although I personally don't think this is the case for us.

Taking into account that he can’t speak for everyone. I’m sure his answer was diplomatic, rather than specific.

Just to be clear I am not aware of any board members who expressed anything other than happiness on the subject of our promotion. However I have not spoken to all of them on the subject so I can not be absolutely certain of that. On reflection perhaps I should have said 'all' rather than 'the vast majority' in my previous post and for that I apologise.

I’m pretty confident that most of us got the overall sentiment.

Fair point and very much how I interpreted it originally - I’m afraid posting on the internet is a very one dimensional affair and folks will interpret as they wish - which  is why when I’m critical of individuals who constantly post negative comments on the owner I am questioning the wisdom of their repeated comments  and not that of the trust - irrespective of their association with the trust.

There is actually a bit of a paradox here, given  these individuals alway profess their’s is an individual view but when one questions them - accusations of being anti trust swiftly follow.

You seem like a fair minded individual and good to have you on board - I do think it would still be helpful if the board could discuss and perhaps agree that anyone with a very close association with the Trust backs off with the type of post I’m referring too - they achieve nothing positive as all the arguments have been aired ad nauseum and they certainly do nothing to heal diversions - I say this not just in respect of the Trust and current club owners but also for the medium/longer term where I want the trust to flourish and enjoy good collaborative relations with whoever are the owners of the club we all love.

Despite an excellent season, despite securing contracts on the vast majority of players, despite securing contracts on the successful management team and despite the likelyhood of record season ticket sales I notice on social media the same sad faces latch onto other posts - Luton's success, Brentford holding their own in the Premiership and Wimbledon returning to Plough Lane to have a non too subtle dig at our owners - sure we could do more and better, but for me we are in a better base position than many times before - for me these individuals are sad and reminiscent of old school socialists whose views are based on a combination of envy and the entitled view of spending someone else's money.
For £20m worth of land for £800k (wnc what we're you thinking? you would at least expect a 3000 capacity increase and a finished East stand.
With all due respect, our owners are greedy to the bone, and you know it.

.....well even aside the fact your figures are both wrong and speculative the reality is they actually don't have that land yet secured so you expect an investment before the JR outcome?

.....but I do agree if the deal does go ahead and no significant infrastructure improvements go ahead then yes both we the fans and the good people of Northampton have been royally shafted.
