Still makes me wonder how after ten years and now well into the actual building the plans keep changing.

It looks like it's going to be the first structure in history where the finished result is smaller than the planning consent.

We shop at Sainsburys but it doesn't belong to us, we're customers. If I was unhappy with Sainsburys I'd go to Asda, I wouldn't keep sobbing about how Sainsburys was ripping me off.

Yes but my Dad always went to Sainsbury's and his dad before him. Some of us don't find it so easy to feck off down to Asda when things aren't going so well.

I'm Sainsbury's through and through.

Just a case of wait and see...as it always has been.

These plans being shown on the council website don't seem to add up. Lets face it. The new stand is structurally about the same size as the West stand so effectively to house a few boxes is at the detriment of almost 2000 seats. That just doesn't seem right does it?

I suppose its 'fun' to try and work it out, but I've been bored with it for so long Im kind of enjoying seeing it being built, albeit slowly  Grin

It will only effect us if we get to the championship in any case, or arguably the very top end of league1. By which point, there will be forceable arguments to add to the capacity behind both goals and maybe even the corners.

It's nowhere near the same size as the westPlans are pretty clear, 2 extra row of seats. Then the lounge on the back with 10 boxes on top with seats in front. It's basically the same as before but without the restricted view seats which is now a wall and the space incorporated into the concourse at the back of the stand

The priority has ALWAYS been daily revenue generating commercial facilities ie; hotel, executive boxes and conference facilities!
If it is 200 or 2000 seats we end up with once the cost of building the more important facilities are done so be it!

Still makes me wonder how after ten years and now well into the actual building the plans keep changing.

This is the crux of the issues they are creating themselves. All projects will have tweaks along the way but the amount of revisions (I can't even remember the original plan) is getting silly. If they can't build the hotel on the car park it probably explains the change to the boxes on stilts, as wasn't it all going to be linked up at one point? Although they've had years to think about it, I think the attempted execution has been rushed once the green light was received. There was probably insufficient initial surveying completed (due to costs) and just some conceptual cartoon artistry published. I'm currently working on a £2-3m potential extension/ development and the surveys/drawings will cost c£60k. I wonder if we scoped it out to this level 10 years ago?

Fortunately (for DC) most people are fed up with it now and there are far more important things to think about on the pitch.

I wonder if it's a case of "Sh1t, I'm getting tons of grief on the restricted view seats, take them out!"
If so, it just supports the view of ineffective consultation in the first place, although some like to think that the fans don't influence decision making at the top.

At this moment in time then, no portacabins on stilts just a redeveloped east with no additional or marginally increased capacity, and boxes that DC thinks will bring cash in.
So what news of the hotel, which I thought was to be physically attached to the portacabins, and does this mean the north and/or the south may get double tiered?

This is very disappointing.

Main question I have is if the west stand boxes aren't being done, where is the money going which would have been spent on them?

I see that (according to those drawings) we have re-named the East Stand. It is now known as the West Stand Grin

No I can't actually. I can't work out a lot of things about the redevelopment if I am honest. All the things DC seems to have spoken about:
Conference centre
Hotel
Stadium capacity
Boxes
Lounges
Scoreboard
Video screen
New seats

That the hotel isn't happening. Came from the same person that told me they were well behind and that it wouldn't be handed over until Christmas. It's on here about a hundred pages back, maybe mid/end of June time

No wonder the open forum was cancelled.

The current situation is totally bizarre. On the field I feel as positive as I have in years about the manager and players, off the field I am totally disillusioned.

Obviously I don't know if it's true but it came as part of a wider chat in which everything else has turned out correct. But then the club said a few days later the hotel was still on. So who knows.

Buried in those holes they dug outside the ticket office?
