I doubt I will.. In fact I'd take 10-20 years off that.  Grin

Just out of interest. How long is the current lease. If Pedj is right, that sits the lease somewhere near the 60 year mark. That's a weird length.

Interesting one that. My Mothering in law lives on Moulton lane, Boughton. They won't like this one. Most of them are still reeling from Buckton Fields  Grin

Then sell off the County Ground for housing. Pure speculation of course and if I was a big cricket fan Id think of taking an ACV on the ground just in case.

The Cobblers would be tenants again and at the whim of the Saints and the RFU. NO, NO and thrice NO!

That's fair enough. We move kick off times anyway, I'm sure we'd get our own schedule and any teams in the Prem no longer have the 3pm Saturday routine.
I just don't see anything on the horizon that is going to transform Sixfields into a money maker without significant investment. With the lack of foreseeable investment I'd personally move somewhere fit for purpose. After all, it has taken over 10 years to get one stand finished to a standard that isn't much better than when it was first built.
As alluded, the Saints are one of the top teams in the country and probably wouldn't want to entertain us anyway.

The way football goes we must be due our turn with someone with a bigger chequebook, or is prepared to unleash it.

Id knock a hundred years off that.
It makes a massive difference if you own the stadium, raising capital against it and of course resale values, we can only dream.

I am more than confident that the ground could be purchased for peanuts with a sturdy covenant keeping it for its current use. But I have no idea who would want it. It was cr@p when it was first finished. The carpark is like the Himalayas. The access and egress is full of cracks and requires constant repair. The amount of parking is diminishing year by year.

Just to get it up to scratch you'd be looking down the barrel of 10 million including the East. Quite possible more. That's before you even look at expansion. Hardly the attractive proposition touted by the redevelopment fairies. I'm not sure you could even build a 10-15 thousand plus stadium on what is effectively a huge compost heap.

Yes Tel, definitely not for the faint hearted but if we want to be a championship club thats where we need to be owning the ground and investing into it, if it was me Id spend the east stand money on a top tier for the south with a proper cantilevered roof same as the west, rip the seats out of the north and make it standing.
Then save up to partially demolish the east and increase the capacity by say 5000, 5 year plan fan engagement buy a brick the works.

Didn't they say similar about Sixfields?

They did. But Ballast Needham (I think) prided themselves on the lightweight structure. Youd need some serious, expensive piling to sit anything of size on that land. And stadiums are heavy.

TBH Im a tad surprised the cinema is still standing. The remediation and preparation of the Sixfields site is questionable at best. I get seasick driving up that hill. Luckily the ground is in the bottom of the site. I wouldnt be surprised if the entire pitch disappears into a sink hole.

Love this tread. I have rejoined since leaving over a year ago and the last 3-4 pages are the same people and same comments as they were back then!
Fingers crossed for some momentum soon.
