And their winning…… special mention to their manager who seems to be an absolute côck end, and I quote “we are expecting Doncaster to be a lot better than Northampton” in his pre match interview.
To be fair....

Kettering's pitch and stadium - now that's non-league!
But even Kettering had electronic advertising around their pitch, we don't have it because we are told "It doesn't make money". If only someone had told Kettering, they could have saved a fortune !

Were they the ones that mysteriously appeared for the benefit of the live TV cameras, and will be gone by tomorrow? And before you say it, we are on camera for every home game. Kettering arent.

We didn't bother when we were live on the BBC and yes, all our home games are on TV but we still ignore a good revenue source, why ?

I really don’t care about kitchens, real ales, electronic advertising boards round the pitch, the trust board, people who constantly pick fault with NTFC, tinpot stands and cheap windows. I am more interested in results on the pitch.

You do know that increased revenue makes the chances of success on the pitch increase, don't you ?

Rog mate, think about it. If they say it doesn’t make money then they have obviously evaluated it and come up with a return figure for implementing it. That figure whatever it is clearly doesn’t motivate the club to invest in it at the moment otherwise they would do so. I would imagine it is one of many options under review and may happen. Indeed the intention may even be to implement it as we speak but it is not currently viewed as a priority based on cost/return comparatives. In short we don’t know what we don’t know, but no-one looks a gift horse in the mouth without reason, period. What no one also does with even a smidgen of intelligence and cash on the hip is chuck a stack of money at something based on “what they reckon”. This forum (and I don’t include you in this) is full of know alls who think they have the all the answers to propel this club to the stratosphere. The reason they don’t buy the club and do it themselves is because most if not all haven’t got a pot to píss in between them. There’s a reason for that.

How much revenue are we missing out on by not having them this season? How much does it cost to put them in place? Does the revenue vary dependent on things like attendance, league, opposition and potential TV audience? Genuine questions as I have no idea what sort of return a club like ours would be looking at?

Lets not forget that it’s not just the potential revenue these create, there is existing pitch side advertising. So it’s not how much the electronic advertising hoardings make, it’s the figure regarding the difference between current and proposed that is relevant. Just thought I should mention it before people get too carried away.

When the dtand has finished does this thread end
This thread went past any useful meaning long ago. What it has served to do, is highlight the many issues around opinions and the usefulness of airing them. In some ways, this thread is less about the single issue its inception was intended for. It has been more useful as a tool to demonstrate how challenging it is to own and operate a football club. Owners, at any level are on a hiding to nothing. Man City supporters were booing the most funded and successful football club in premiership history. There is not a person amongst us, who wouldn't like to see us playing championship football, in a big stadium. But give us a couple of years in that league, and the moaning would start about why haven't we pushed for, or funded a push for the prem. If I had the funds to buy the Cobblers a hundred times over, I wouldn't bother. Because on the whole, I don't really like football supporters. I like them as everyday people, as much as anyone. But I do not like the disjointed rationale they apply to their team, and especially the expectation that they place on spending other peoples money. Another thing this thread has served to demonstrate, is the jealousy of some. And the toxic nature of how it manifests itself. I will be happy to see the stand finished. I am even more happy the land issues have been resolved. It was always more of a curse than a blessing. I will remain optimistic and philosophical about the future of the club I love.
