Now very serious discussion on play offs and Wembley or even auto's Well done for resisting the temptation with play offs but you couldn't resist putting an apostrophe in autos. I'll let it slide but I don't except Coolcat will be so forgiving and he is right.

Always a dangerous game correcting other people's grammar - whilst technically not incorrect, good and proper use of English would recommend "could not" rather than "couldn't" .........

Behave, there's nothing wrong with couldn't. There is a lot wrong with those full stops at the end of your sentence, common decency restricts them to three.

Marvo's economics to stadium expansion
"It's quite simple really.
1) Your capacity is 8,000 2) You need 10,000 to meet demand. 3) Extending North Stand cost £1,000,000 4) 2000 X £22 = £44,000 per game 5) 23 x £44,000 = £1,101,200 per season.
Now that's just one season but obviously you could pay the £1,000,000 back over a longer length of time." Quote Marvo.
Simple except your plan potentially loses the club £3m.
So how long do you wait under those circumstances before raising the necessary finance?
Bearing in mind with your formula and if that level of demand occurred, nearly three seasons of crucial revenue would already be lost - A season to realise you need to build it, a season to plan and another to build. Can you tell me DC can do it faster?
Of course form is always consistent and can be relied on! Refer to this season. i.e. by the time you have built it, fortunes have changed and the requirement is less or more. Also construction costs will always increase so it's always best practice to be pro-active and forecast your customer base not shut the door on them. That's business.
As a note to your workings out. The current cost of basic stadium construction to current required standards is approx £1k-1400k per seat. (depending on specification) excl ground works or any internal fittings for commercial facilities if required, so 2000 seats would cost approximately £2m today.
You're suggesting another loan? Wasn't this loan for just the same reason so..
a. It's been spent badly. b. It's in the bank - no commercial sense to wait as it’s just losing money. c. It's being spent elsewhere.
If it had been used for the purposes proposed to fans, the public and council, that demand could have been catered for should it arise, without delay, without losing revenue.
If we are to make the play offs it will take hell of a run and won’t go unnoticed so possibly could have been utilized later this season or next enabling a greater chance of sustaining success for longer.

Nah, I don't agree with any of that.
1) Cardoza will have our capacity increased long before well need it. We don't now but hopefully in the future we will. 2) Your per seat example is for a completely new stand, not increasing an already built one which wouldn't be anywhere near that cost per seat. 3) A loan you say? Well I guess one man's loan is another man's investment. If I could buy something for £1000 which I knew I could sell for £5000, I'd have no problem in borrowing the £1000. 4) If we make a run for the play-offs, undoubtedly the gate will increase but we're a long way off being sold out and that's with the current reduced capacity. Only 9 games to go at Sixfields, it's not going to break the bank. If we do get a 10th (play-off) all Cardoza will have to do is increase the entrance fee to make up the difference. He surely will if he's the villain you make him out to be.
You're just irked that I showed how a new stand could be financed, in reality nobody would be looking to recoup their investment in a single season. If Cardoza was to offer a 3 year season ticket deal (or longer) for £1000 (or more) to help towards an extension to the North Stand I'd be interested in "investing" in my club.

Are you suggesting a second hand stand or having seats suspended in thin air? The cost of building a stand is just that, extending or not. Unless your going to build it with cardboard you still need the same cubic metres of reinforced concrete and sub-frame steel to BS EN 1090-1 to support the structure. The engineers and architects I work with, who source these materials globally, would be very interested if you can supply them cheaper. I thought you drove trains when did you become an commercial architect?

It's some steel, concrete, a roof and some plastic seats, it's not the Sistine chapel.

There's a reason why some people drive trains and some build things, both have been trained and gained experience in that field. I personaly wouldn't feel safe being a passenger in a train being driven by Bob the Builder
