Front page of the Chron "Seven days to go for the Cobblers to pay back £10.25m" Can't they at least waiver the 0.25 bit, it looks untidy.
What are they going to do if the 10.25m isnt paid back? They can't apply to put us in administration or wind us up as they won't see the money and get all amounts of abuse from the local tax payer. So I'm interested in what their next move is going to be from this posturing.

I wondered this also. Take back Sixfields and also the quoted £500k annual running fee? Makes a bad debt worse.

I think the councils main aim is to push the takeover through and to get the development moving.
Personally I think one of three things will happen. 1. The take over happens and the money is paid back. 2, DC and his Dad will repay the loan, remember he reassured supporters that the loan was underwritten by him. 3, they find the missing millions in a tesco bag under the ticket office counter. Number 3 is as likely to happen as number 2

If he does pay it back before a take over, you'll never know if it was no.2 or no.3. Although the whole thing smells like a no.2

I also read when they first arrived that all the money to the club was gifts rather than loans so imagine how confused that's led me to be when I read how ntfc owes then 8 million quid or so from all the propping up over the years.

They could put us into administration.....make it all legal...and then the assets of the relevant parties can be assessed. After all, the money has got to be somewhere, well hidden maybe, but it has to be somewhere doesn't it? It would be a long drawn out process. What are they going to do? I don't know....but they can't do nothing can they? They'll get all amounts of abuse from the local tax payer!! As I understand it, the money was loaned from central government to the council then loaned to the club......the club is liable to the council but the council is liable to the Government.

WE have all waited long enough so why not give it two more weeks then i am sure it will all come out in the wash one way or another. It seems to me that some people on here almost want us to be placed in administration to prove a point......

I'm pretty sure there is a degree of posturing and sabre rattling going on with the council in an attempt to push things forward. I'd be very surprised if they followed through on any threat and I'd be equally surprised if we stumped up the money, so I'm expecting the deadline to be marked by the issuing of some weasel worded joint statement saying that a vague and unspecified agreement has been reached between the two parties. That way, no one gets any more egg on their face than they already have, the club can resume radio silence and the council can say they've "done their bit" to any of the Dearsleys of this world.

That would be the £8,000,000 minus 2,650,000 that they have already had = £5,350,000. There...that's not so bad, is it!

That might be fine for a short amount of time ultimately the council need the money back as they borrowed the money as well so they have repayments to meet also.

If the club is taken over, the council will want guarantees that the new owner is going to rectify the situation in respect of the intended uses of the loan. They will also not want to see DC ride off into the sunset with a bag of cash winnings over his shoulder, leaving behind him a scene akin to Custer's Last Stand!

What a ridiculous comment! As for how things may play out: The council are in a tricky situation. They need to keep pushing, but should they push too hard at this stage, then things may go **** up and they then face the risk of a: A long and protracted legal battle to recover their funds, or b: Ending up with pennies in the pound. My guess: The Cardozas will stump up all the late payments, while also making assurances all further payments will be met on time. The council will then issue a statement saying this is acceptable, but they will monitor things closely from now on... of course, this is based on assumptions that the Cardoza's pockets aren't empty

I agree with this - I'm expecting next Friday's deadline to be a huge anti-climax.

It certainly comes across like that there's a few on here who are more concerned with being right/liked on here than actually whats best for the club.
