I suggest that the keyboard warriors keep their powder dry until after the Open Forum.

I'm not expecting any news about the redevelopment coming out tomorrow or anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong.

Let's be honest, the whole "stadium" is a bit tinpot now. 20 odd years on from opening it's looking a bit tired and dated but it serves it's purpose. If we were turning people away every week I could understand some of the comments made on here but we don't, do we?

Of course, if we get to the Championship it's a whole different thing but I can't believe anyone seriously expects the sort of £10 million investment required to upgrade  the East and build up the North and South and add another 5 to 10k on the capacity when we've only just secured another year in League 1.

Let's get to the promised land first then worry about the ground. I'd rather money be spent on building a great side than watching a rubbish one in a half empty nice ground. Teams win titles and promotions, not fancy stadiums

KT has said there will be an update on the East stand, just don't expect grand designs and plans, just yet.

Problem is Rambo that good sides come and go... remember we recently won a league by a massive margin. Having lots of seats available means that unlike before, you have a chance of capitalising on that success and developing for the next stage.

Do you think clubs that have been in Championship or above generally only stay there because they produce a good team every year?  No they stay there because they have seats and facilities (and owners) that are able to sustain that level of football.

If we have any real ambition to be a Championship club (which I doubt we really have, certainly not fans like you and many more like you) then the increasing of the ground is pretty vital.

Burton and Brentford are 2 that perhaps buck the trend but Burton have an excellent Chairman and train at International level facilities and Brentford have a great atmospheric ground and are in London (so able to attract international players)

Lots of other clubs with less catchment area than us, have lots more clubs nearer to them yet manage to sell 15,000 plus tickets every home game. We struggle to sell 6000 due mainly to the ground but also the lack of excitement / winning ambition of the club. The fact we took 7000 to MK proves this.

Do you know why we operate a strict data base only policy? Well its to keep out those inquisitive Northampton folk who decide they and and friends would like to watch their home town club play one of the many attractive games coming up this season, be it a local derby or against any of the bigger clubs or even an important game that has something riding on it.
This then guarantees just those that are regular  and not a non data based Northamptonians or visiting fan gaining access.

As long as we keep a strict data base we'll be fine.
Are you still sure Sixfields is adequate?

It all comes down to cost and do the present incumbents have the financial clout and the stomach to pay vast sums to rebuild the shambolic east stand and if they did how crippling would the debts be carried forward by NTFC?
The silence speak volumes to me, which is fine as long as they realise doing jack 5hit and playing for time won't be a comfortable alternative.
The latest 'time buying' strategy I read was of a posible 'Chinese master plan for the ground.' Oh how we will lap that one up for the next decade before we realise we've been had again😂.
As boring and repetitive as this may sound our only realistic alternative is to build up the ground cheaply as I've previously suggested in the 3 stages, South Stand terracing , East  stand boxes and North stand terracing, funded using future incomes from  ST sales and debentures which give  value to those buying in advance. Any short fall in future income will be made up from new STH holders attracted to an atmospheric more professional looking ground and the vast amount of visiting fans currently turned away due to capacity.
In the continuing absence of anything tangible coming from KT or a Chinese master plan would  anyone be against such an idea?
Considering this will be a collective  effort for and by the supporters of NTFC,  it will give us the same pride as those that helped shape the fabulous franklin gardens.

Are you going to the Open Forum to put your questions/points/suggestions to KT? Or would you like us to get someone to ask for you if you cannot make it?

Yes, please ask on my behalf, (David Cadden)  Im sure in the absence of any proposed redevelopment, a low budget staged project  thats sustainable, supporters  driven and gives the club a chance to finally  grow would be well recieved.
That team being assembled , the Town and our supporters  deserve a proper stadium.

I'm not there due to work commitments (see post in the pinned thread specifically for the Open Forum), however I'm sure if you post in that thread that someone who is attending or from the Trust will gladly put forward on your behalf.

That isn't a question, it's an observation.

Do you have a question that you want me to ask?

Besides, it's our job to have one of the worst grounds in the country. It's only cr@pholes like Accrington that keep us from our rightful place...

This is a valid point, and may open up some interesting questions. Let's be honest, we are all seriously in the dark about our new owners, and the club hasn't exactly been forthcoming (so far at least) with regards the aspirations and financial clout behind the takeover. So, it is fair to say that once plans for the East Stand (and any other stadium improvements) do eventually get finalized, we should have a much better idea of what lies ahead.
If the stand ends up being tin-pot, then it's a fair likelihood that our club's future will follow a similar route.

Whatever happened to the new seats that were supposedly being put into the West stand? Always felt sorry for whoever sat a couple down from my season ticket last year as the seat was crocked

Previous chairman promise, that didn't materialize.

Exactly this. It's economics. The East Stand is a sunk cost. It's money already spent and wasted. Looking at economic value, if they want to make a long term gain they have to knock it down.

There is little to no benefit in doing a half arsed job of what we've got and just doing it up as is

Hopefully you will attend the meeting on the 2nd Aug to ask the relevant questions if only to allay your fears; and others no doubt.

Pretty sure KT dismissed the idea of knocking it down due to high costs of rebuilding it at the first Trust Meeting he attended. Now with the investment we now have it might be a possibility but I doubt it.
