This in itself shows how easy it is for those who so clearly go about things so illegally, to go about their day to day 'business'.

The press cant say anything, you cant talk about it on a forum, you get warned if you put anything on twitter/facebook etc. Indeed there is no outlet that can name and shame anybody these days without the fear of repercussion or nanny state type moderating.

Lets be clear here. Its those reasons, that we are where we are today. People were trying to expose certain individuals and every time hit a brick wall in doing so, meaning that the masses didn't believe anything until it was too late. I do accept that the opposite would be a vigilante society, but even so, in our little world of claret and white, its *frustrating*!

I also understand why as moderators, you have to do what you do. But Id love to put stuff on here about certain individuals from the not too distant past, because for me there is so much telling evidence (or at least evidence that wrong doing occurred)  but for some reason no one has been criminally brought to justice. Fingers crossed that it all comes out at some point and we can type all kinds of sh1t until our hands are aching!  Grin

Not true. You can get your local MP to name and shame in parliament without fear of reprecussions. I wonder how you could get him to do that?

Eye-catching vision for a new community stadium in the town-centre at Grimsby designed by local architects.

The contrast with cardozas sixfields redevelopment couldn't be more stark.

Hot on the heels of the Council agreeing a further loan with the Saints for improvements to Franklins Gardens.....they now agree a grant to Sileby Rangers to improve Fernie Fields.

https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/160k-grant-for-fernie-fields-improvements-approved-by-northampton-borough-council-1-8803724

The standout comment in this report for me was made by Phil Larratt..... Councillor Larratt added: “The overall scheme is spending £500,000, and the site is still owned by NBC with 40 years still left on the lease. For me, we are investing in our own asset.”

Sixfields is owned by the Council and leased to NTFC.....if only they'd have taken this option before handing over the £10m plus to be squirrelled away through various shell companies......just think where we'd be now if the Council had cut out the middle men!

Apologies for the length of this post regarding the latest club mention of the redevelopment situation which came in their report from last night's fans consultancy evening.

Phil Garlick tweeted a summary of the meeting and this regarding the redevelopment. "East Stand lease issues are resolved. Agreement with council required for CDNL land (beyond athletics track) Athletics track will then be available for future ntfc development"

https://twitter.com/PGNTFC/status/1098865177448058880

Now let's go back to the Thomas/Bower takeover where Thomas stated to the BBC the he and the new owners thought they were "going to spend £4million to complete the East Stand and on working capital". In the same interview Thomas talks about his partner David Bower who was "coming to the end of his development cycle and even then probably not on the large scale that was ever going to be required if we were to entertain the large scale retail and commercial development on the other side of the East Stand".

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/34938496

The Borough Council at the time made it clear that "to repay the debt, the council alone will move forward alone with the development of land around Sixfields". In the same story the Council mentioned a Memorandum Of Understanding it had signed with the club to that effect.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11739/10077594/northampton-town-takeover-moves-closer

The Council then responded to Thomas and Bower intent to sell the club in May of last year by stating

"Progress on the East Stand has been very much within the gift of the football club, and since taking control of the development company CDNL in 2017, the chairman has been in a position to control further adjacent land...

The chairman subsequently proposed inclusion of further land, which was not part of the original draft documentation...

However, the council has an obligation to ensure that any wider use of publicly owned land surrounding the stadium must be in the best interests of the taxpayers of Northampton, particularly proposed retail development outside of the town centre, and must go through proper due diligence to ensure the best value is obtained for the public purse."

https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/breaking-news-borough-council-hits-back-at-criticism-from-northampton-town-chairman-1-8509308

The club have admitted that they have plans for land at sixfields outside the stadium footprint although no details have been as yet released. One would assume given the above that the Council alone would be responsible for the development of land outside the stadium and running track area or in absence of that to profit from it. One would assume that Thomas and Bower wouldn't entertain any development of wider CDNL land, especially large scale retail or commercial development.

Fwiw Thomas owns c10% of NTFC Ventures and c50% of CDNL.

Obviously the lack of detail is concerning given the club's history. Ive spoken to a couple of fans who are happy to trust Thomas and Bower to deliver something good for both the council and the club and fair play to them, it wouldn't surprise me if Thomas pulls something out of the bag but that is all it amounts to, trust.

Fair enough place your trust in someone but let's ask questions, let's be vigilant and bring our heads out of the stand. There's already a lot of talk about "finishing the stand". Cardoza wrecking the East Stand resulted in a capacity increase of c200 seats. Whether completing that structure is of benefit to the football club in the short-term let alone the medium is open to debate. That opens up a question of the future proofing of any work and the use of what will be once in a lifetime land. That again takes us back to whether Thomas and Bower ever really "saved" the club and who else was/would have been interested. As Thomas said, "If you told a lot of people the deal we ended up with there would have been 50 people in the room"

Apathy is dangerous. Believe there were fewer than 20 people in the club meeting on Thursday night.

Regarding the East Stand, in any other situation you'd have a rounded analysis that, alongside finishing the structure, included:

1. Boxing it off, making safe and sitting on the land values for a time of uplift.
2. Demolition or part demolition and rebuild

There appears to have been no public discussion of those 2 options. The increase in capacity since Cardoza wrecked what was a good little stand is c200 seats. Cardoza's plans were never of great value to the football club so it makes sense to be cautious about a panic to finish the job.

The East Stand was designed with a simple, modular build and for it to go back another tier to mirror the West Stand in capacity.

Some questions remain.

What is now stopping the club from dealing with the East Stand situation? They have indicated they have funds. Are the club's stadium plans completely separate from or contingent to monies from other development?

Has the memorandum of understanding been kept to with the Council and are the Council still in a position to develop the wider land themselves to claw back the missing millions?

What, if any, claims do Buckinghams still have over the project?

Will any works to the stadium be sufficiently future-proofed in terms of facilities and capacity to make them worthwhile?

Again, if there was a stronger local press there could be healthier discussion. Thomas now mainly provides snippets of updates via in-house videos.

No and No! KT and DB gazumped NBC to secure the leases held by CDNL, thus leaving NBC at a loss with regards recovering the land. This probably explains why the council has been so antsy towards KT and his lack of development on the East Stand. The details of this have already been laid out earlier in this thread, including the contents of the MOU.

It's all very well people saying we should continue to have trust in our owners (with regards to completion of the stand), but our council trusted them enough to strike a deal with them... and then got shafted.

I'm going to pick you up on the press part here, Tom.

You write for a website so I believe you could say you are a journalist for that online publication. Have you considered taking your questions directly to KT yourself? I completely understand your frustrations and the questions you are asking, but you are asking the wrong people. Please go and speak with the people who can answer your questions. Grill them as hard as you like. Obviously there is no guarentee you will get the answers you want but at least you will have put your questions to the people who hve the ability to answer them.

Pretty sure I saw a hard hat dodging the many balls which went his way! As for their crowd they failed dismally to support their team. Those who hail Stevenage as a prime model example ought to think again.

Agree with you there Evers, couldn't understand why the bloke in the hat kept standing in the corner, rather than behind the goal.

Maybe that's because there isn't an athletics track any more, just unused land, which could hardly be deemed to be a "community asset"

Yeah, but that figure is peanuts when you consider the obscene amounts the Prem clubs get from the pot.

It's good to see our glory hunters never  travelled to Leicester or even Coventry when they the were pulling up trees.
We have many generations still to this day getting on board with Don Revies dirty Leeds or the 1970 fa cup victors Chelsea.
Man Utd, Liverpool and the top 4 London clubs have also taken advantage of the disenfranchised Northamptonians totally fed up of the crap land grabbing owners of the past 20 years subjecting our towns football club to a side show!
Thankfully we are in a good position to change the mind set and recently seeing 15000 fanatical Northampton saints many very drink! fans staggering happily about our town, tells me it time for change.
Let's all back the trust 100%.
I'm sick of Cardoza/ Thomas's football club, I want our own club.
