Interesting spin here...
From the trust statement: From James Averill's report:
Same facts in play, very different inference from them.
It's not the same facts. Those statements came from two different conversations.

It's the first time we've heard from the council, now working in tandem with Trust, stating that the needs of our Football club are being put to the fore. Getting its fair share of any windfall that come from adjacent land etc, This is great news! Now hopefully Thomas and co will stop pi5s balling about and start working on their long overdue exit strategy.

Sounds like the council are happily engaged with the Trust, judging by the statement from them, which is great for the club.
Has the councillor released a statement or is there a transcript so I can follow exactly what was said anywhere?
Also, was anything else discussed at the meeting? (ie what is being done about the current situation, any plans moving forward etc).
Sounds like a the moment we are stuck with a horrible stalemate.

I don't know if its great for THE CLUB......it looks like its the Trust and Council vs the Owners......and the owners hold all the cards at the moment. It is a stalemate.....which will be broken when either a) the Owners build the stand, or b) they sell up. OF course there could be a c) whereby cuts are made until the club is not losing money any more, because I can't see Bower propping things up forever.

I think it looks like that if you’re at a Trust meeting with a council representative there.. I’d imagine it would look a lot different if it was a meeting with the club and the council..

When you say club you mean clubs owners, thats not necessary the 'club' that represents the town of Northampton . Thomas's ntfc is nothing more than a front to facilitate land aquirement. This is not how we want our club.

The level of support from our total catchment being less than 2% would suggest differently. Most clubs get above 4%. Which works well for Thomas and co, as should we go out of our way to attract another 1.5% to regularly attend, our run down shell of a ground would be far too small. Thomas, once inexplicably said Sixfields is OK for league 1 football, 'ok for now' was his words which soon came back to bite him on the arse with instant relegation back to L2 with his accumulated losses then dumped on our club I don't think he ignored history, which clearly shows Sixfields as is, is unable to sustain L1 football, but more try to buck the trend while waiting for his good fortune from the land to become available. Our loyal Supporters, the supporters we should've attracted that we failed to engage with, those lapsed supporters and the ones of the future all need a reason to return after these past 20 years of stagnation. And it's never going to happen until our club stops being used by outsiders to gain vast personal wealth at the expense of the club that represents their town. Thank you to the Trust and the NBC for putting our club before that of the speculators.

Tel’s point understood and well made. I would only add that the Trust has at least got the attention of the Council. That in itself has not been easy. Translating that attention into action that protects the football club and its long term future is the challenge. The lure of possible significant financial gain is always likely to distract attention from long term benefit to supporters and the wider community. The danger is that the Council decides a relatively quick financial gain is the determining factor, the fact that the club’s owners acting through another company (CDNL) make big personal profits is secondary and the interests of the football club and its supporters come a distant third. That risk remains as real today as it did before Thursday’s meeting.

Did we get more than %2 before? And I don't mean on seasons we were winning the league. I just think people round here prefer rugby, less drama, a lot less.

Exactly. And potentially could happen, especially given NBC's record when it comes to raking in any short term gain. Forward thinking has never been their strong point.

KT and DB were at the head of a queue of ONE when we required new owners. They sorted immediate debts and oversaw issues on and off the field, which I am appreciative of.
BUT now everything has stagnated, much to the frustration of supporters.
I ask KT to come out and have the courtesy to inform fans of his short term plans for NTFC. Initially for the East Stand and longer term further development ie Conference Centre and/or Hotel!
I feel supporters have sat on their hands long enough but now KT your time is up!

Do you? Or have you just posted it on a messageboard that Kelvin Thomas doesn't give one jot about?
