Let's face facts.. We are not toy town fc, we need a stadium to satisfy demand for the big games and encourage a new support base to a more exciting looking Sixfields.
Yes the owners are the owners and land is precious...
But it doesn't mean we can't call them out for poor representation of our clubs needs..
It's embarrassing pretending your emperors new stand is anything other than a shamefully expensive non league stand.

Beds the East Stand had a Capacity of just over 1700 when it was built, The current owners put 145 extra seats in to bring the Capacity up to what it is now. The Capacity of Sixfields increased from 7,653 to 7798 in 2016 after the seats were fitted back into the Reprofiled Stand. Around another 300 or more seats to be fitted.
But why let facts get in the way if your lies .
If you wat to get people on board with any ideas you have , cut out the lies.

Just to be accurate over the summer about 10 pairs of seats were taken away by the H&S manager, at the top of each flight of steps, without telling the fans who have used them since the stadium was built!
Ironically, seats at the top of steps are still being designed and allowed in new and existing stadiums throughout each division! So why take ours out and make loyal fans move from their group?
The H&S irony was they left the bolts in the floor which caused a trip hazard!!!
Question for the H&S manager: because of the way the seats are fixed in the back row of the stadium fans have at least 2" less let room! Is there a minimum distance?

Would be interesting to know what fag packet calculations the New Hotel End team had done on their fag packet drawings for comparison. Although Im guessing none as they did pretty pictures and then expected everyone else to do the hard bit. I genuinely have no idea how much it costs to build a stand but based on some of the reports that others have posted, and the information from Carton Lid the other day it seems reasonable. I also to a certain extent accept your costings if we want a breeze block stand with a second hand mini fridge and microwave for hospitality and a meccano extension to the south stand. One example I found quickly is the new stand at Luton. Cost between £10 - £13m from what I can see. Similar size to East stand with only 1 box. So all in all I would say a comparable cost. |

The temporary stand that Wrexham put in cost £400k. Granted, that contains about 3000 seats but it's also an open structure akin to the Meccano stand at the County Ground or that monstrosity at Gillingham.
According to their sums, they won't see a return on their investment from those extra 3000 bums on seats either, they just did it to allow more fans in, but that's an option when you have money bags owners and isn't really viable for clubs trying to operate within a sustainable model.

Yes.. In a nutshell. We probably only have: Wrexham, Birmingham, Bolton this season who will sell above the current offering. So saying "regular" is nonsense. None of them to the tune 4000 paying customers as you ridiculously suggest. Barnsley, Reading, Peterborough, Mansfield, who might be slightly over. But in most of there visits they have requested a maximum of 1-2 hundred additional tickets. So if we accept that were probably missing out on, at a generous guess 6000 fans. Pricing them at £30 to allow for the few that buy catering. After policing, stewards, running costs, you're probably losing 120k per year. If you spend just 1.2 million on expanding, that means a ten year recoup for owners that you know full well have stated repeatedly that the club it up for sale. I don't doubt your passion. But if you think expansion is the key to success, it only serves to show what a limited insight you have into the nonsensical economics of football. The club could sign a stand sponsorship for the newly developed East stand tomorrow, that without laying a further brick, would yield a better return than expanding the south stand for the next 10-15 years. |
