Fantastic performance and I'm absolutely buzzing.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

All the news lads played their part and looked very, very good. Widdowson had a unebleiveable game at left back and Platt was a threat all game with Cardiff unable to cope with him.

Same team Saturday please. Cardiff had a good enough team to beat us but we just out played them, out fought and out ran. They looked very original and quite s*** tbh   -stick to rugby?  Tongue Tongue Tongue

P.S Looked better team without Bayo on the pitch  Smiley    Shocked    Undecided

Can someone confirm whether or not the Cardiff fans chanted "black jack bastard" at Bayo or "fat Jack bastard"?

Hackett and Widdowson definitely Boothroyd best summer purchases. Almost enough to count for losing Jacobs (FIVE assists for Derby today). Artell didn't do too much wrong today, and I was skeptical about him when he first joined. Would like to see what he'll do again pace, but he was good. I'm really hoping we can find a field a decent back 4 now, we haven't had a good defence for ages.

Just back from the game, and was sat with my Swansea season ticket holding mate.  Suffice to say, he thoroughly enjoyed himself.  Widdowson and Guttridge were fantastic.

I'm liking the look of the back four with the addition of Artell, all comfortable on the ball, and with the likes of Bayo, Demontagnac and Mukendi on the bench, we have loads of options.

Cardiff were just awful - I notice the comments about the right winger, but he wasn't the only one who didn't look like he belonged on a football pitch.

I'm more optimistic about the season than I was before, but Cardiff were that bad, I'm not sure how much to read into it...... Roll on Saturday!!!!

On Bayo I'm sure it was Fat Jack Bastard, not any reference to race.

What a start to the season! My inner pessimist suggests that things can only get worse from here  Wink I thought all the new signings looked accomplished, but Joe Widdowson - what on earth is he doing at Sixfields? The boy looked Championship standard tonight, absolutely top notch across the whole 90 minutes. His tackling was perfect, he was composed, he passed the ball well and he was always well positioned. I am mightily impressed. The side as a whole played brilliantly and looked very well drilled, Harding adds some culture and composure in the middle of the park which will speak volumes in games where we have more of the ball. Roll on the round 2 draw and Saturday's league kickoff.

Good performance tonight. Every unit in the team knew exactly what his job was. But I wouldn't get too carried away, Saturday's game will be a whole lot harder.

Best of luck to you for this season apart from him.hope you guys go up just like we will... Bluebirdsssss. Watch sky sports on Friday night for hopefully a decent Cardiff showing (not that you would care really) but we will have wittingham
Hudson Bellamy Cowie Marshall  mcnaughton gunnarson and vayonka in the side so hopefully the performance won't be as dire as it was today

WoooHooo!

Cracking start and very promising, but just one game. Do you think we may be able to transfer our league cup form to the league this term?

Oh and on another subject what percentage of the gate do we keep for away fixtures in the league cup, is it similar to the FA Cup? If so we would be better off getting a big side away than at home next round or failing getting a big club we could have the scum at home!

Cracking performance, very much a case of men against boys.

Should have resulted in a 3 or 4 goal win, but as others have intimated cardiff were very poor and under strengthed. That said, you can only beat what's put in front of you and despite the narrow scoreline we did it with some ease.

I can fly off today happy in the knowledge that the team looks well capable of starting the season well prepared and well organised. I will miss the first 3 league fixtures and the following round, hoping for a sky game so that I can fly the flag in some random drinking establishment in fueturventura or however it's spelt!
