Why have fuel prices gone up so much in the last month, any one got any ideas ? At the Esso garage on the A45 near Billing Diesel was 140.9 on Sunday ,yesterday it was 141.9 and today it's 142.9 .Looks like blatant profiteering to me, if oil prices go up the companies  are straight on TV explaining why they have to raise their prices ,but they haven't been on so I doubt that the oil price as gone up  Angry

Wholesale Oil prices up from $90 / barrel (beginning of August) to $114 / barrel now.

As you know 60% of the forecourt price is tax (Fuel Duty + VAT).

I'm in Indonesia at the moment, here it is about 35p a litre. Rising wholesale prices seem irrelevant at that price!

Salamat Pagi. Indonesia has it's own oil and gas production and the fuel is heavily subsidized by the government. The removal of these subsidies led to the down fall of the Soharto regeim in 1998 as violence flared amongst people queuing for the last of the old priced petrol and the police and army. This was the start of the collapse of the Asian Tigers. I know cause I was there.

Its about $2:65 per gallon here in Dallas.
Its 3.7 litres per gallon and 1 dollar= 60p

So basically you're getting shagged..

I can't see how people can survive getting taxed so high and ripped off there.

It used to cost me the equivalent of a pound to fill a Jeep in Caracas. I weep when filling up here.
