As an expert in the oil industry i must remind you all - TAX TAX TAX. Don't blame the odd independent for charging you an extra 10p a litre, than probably means he makes about £10 profit a day after his supplier and the government have taken their cut.....

Why is diesel so expensive. Wasnt it invented by Mr Diesel to be precisely the opposite. I.e a rough and ready cheap fuel?

It's taxed on the amount of energy each unit of fuel contains, or something.

Caracas is a lovely place, 70 murders a week they can keep their cheap petrol.

A  few years ago Diesel was alot cheaper than Unleaded, so people started to buy diesel cars more and more.
In this country oil companies are set up to supply the UK with unleaded not diesel, hence too much unleaded is produced then exported keeping the price down. Not enough Diesel is produced hence it has to be imported making it more expensive.

This argument doesn't hold water in Ireland ,where diesel is cheaper than unleaded in the Republic but dearer in Northern Ireland.

More like you have to fill up less frequently, so they charge you more to compensate.

Not 100% true tcobb but pretty close. A refinery has quite a bit of flexibility to change its set up to produce more middle distillate (i.e diesel, jet fuel) than gasoline, naptherics etc.

Diesel is more expensive 'cause more people want it! If cars could run on dogsh!t the price of that might wander up too

It was on one of those Radio 5 programs about a year ago Wrigleys, they interviewed one of the top bod's and he stated that the UK  just does not have the flexibilty to produce the diesel that is needed hence it has to be imported.

Buy your fuel when the day is at it's coldest.. say early morning and only click the nozzle one click not all three, that way you will get more fuel and less fuel fumes.

I never told you all this, I was never here  Wink

When you've finished filling, lift the pump hose above the level of your filler neck to get the fuel in the hose out. Providing the person in front doesn't do the same thing (and I've never seen anyone else do it) you get a bit extra for free.

As long as it doesn't stop your member being inflated to the correct pressure you can but make sure when you've finished emptying lift the pump hose above the level of your neck to get the jizz in the hose out. Providing the person in front doesn't do the same thing (and I've never seen anyone else do it) you get a bit extra for free.
