When we played the D ongs the other night I got thinking about their wage bill. Where does the money come from to pay such a hefty wage bill?
Alan Smith was on 60 grand at Newcastle last season ,OK if he takes a Clarke Carlisle sized pay cut he's still on minimum 6 grand ,Bullard has got to be on something like that as well. They have a squad of 24 players including Martin,Otsemobor,Lewington,McKenzie,Gleeson,Potter,Bowditch,Lowe,Powell, Ibehre and Chadwick. I would think virtually all of those earn more than our top earners ,Bayo & Platt?. They then had at least 5 back room staff on the bench at Sixfields including Ian Wright ,He's not working for a few hundred a week is he?
I think their average gate is around 8000 ,including freebies, I can't see that covering those wages, is Winkleman taking a big  g amble that they go up ? Lets hope it all ends in tears  Grin

From what I've seen, heard and read it does seem Milton Keynes Council back the Dons at every move and the new buildings that are going up around it including a new casino are obviously putting money in to the club?

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?

A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent personified in this case by a sex starved voyeur that is Tyro.

I believe Tyro is right (for once) I hear a lot of info on them as I work in MK. There is considerable finance from the building work around the ground. I asked a local councillor how it worked he said he wasn’t 100% sure but basically MK council gave the management company the land to build the ground which was financed by Asda and Ikia. The council taxes etc. meant they made more money on the development than they ever did from the sports fields that were there previously. Future development around the ground they are now building the third stage of this added more finance to both the club and the council. It really is a win win situation at the moment. The problem is they had budgeted to be in the Championship two years ago and sooner rather than later the development land will run out. They have already had to delay finishing the indoor Arena at the ground due to their lack of progress on the pitch and a new training ground has been shelved meaning they now won’t meet the new requirements for academies, this I got that info as one of my boys train with MK.
They have however got a platform there to build on but you wonder how running costs for that massive ground will be found in the future. A last foot note I understand that Mr Winckleman has not financed anything from his own pocket (can’t blame him for that) but has just obtained and spent other peoples cash. No £7 million debt to the owner on their balance sheet.

Gutted about the indoor arena as it has made the MK Lions basketball team have to move to the Olympic Park in London to find a new home. The Lions used to have an office in our building so I could get free tickets for the games and it was quite good to take the kids along. Another reason to hate The Childcatcher.

I had also heard that Winkleman had not spent his own cash and that they were spending tax payers cash  Huh?
