I'm sure he had until yesterday as well so hopefully something will be announced soon.  Unless they are still negotiating which could be the case after having a bit more budget with Bayo leaving.  Expecting the news today.

Anyone else read the title of this thread and think we'd been linked with a Portuguese winger or something?

Good news that Gilbert is staying, decent left-back.

Nice one Sammo. Now a Dyche-like Centre half and JJ back for another season would give us a good base.

As consistant a Left Back you could hope for at this level.

Great news, things are coming into place nicely it seems.

Sammo is going up in my estimation as time goes on, seems to generally be making all the right decisions so far and taking no s***.

Great news....you can always tell when a defender is quality when you rarely hear his name mentioned by fans having a pop.

He has just got on with doing a good job all season and I am chuffed to see him sign on again.

Nice one Pedro.... Cool

Good news, barely registered on the MOM front but rarely makes mistakes and is a solid and dependable defender. You usually need a couple of those in L2.

In a way, I hate to say this but Peter Gilbert is the Phil Neville of the team I think.

Rarely makes any mistakes and does all the basics very well. Barely gets a mention but its because there is nothing to fault him

Very happy with his signature being put to paper on a new deal.

Well done Sammo

Gilbert doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves. Never the standout player on the pitch (although it's very difficult to be the outstanding player when at full back), but bar the game where he got sent off he hasn't had one bad game in a Cobblers shirt since he arrived. Over the course of a full season he might have a chance of contending for the POTS in 2010/11.

I am very happy with this news as well. He got sent off on his debut - which was perhaps a tad harsh - but other than that he has been very consistant at left back

Excellent news. I was worried that with the departure of Holt and JJ and the transfer-listing of Hinton we would be starting another season with a back line of virtual strangers - a ridiculous situation which ultimately cost us promotion.

Gilbert and Beckwith give us an excellent foundation on which to build. Gilbert is very solid defensively, and it's only his lack of pace and attacking menace which is keeping him from returning to the Championship IMO.

Pleased that Gilbert has signed. I thought he was a very consistant player for us last season. Just gets on with his job.
