Hi N.E. again, lol

Yes we have been talking about it for years so it's time to make a change.

Matchday prices is always a difficult one and one I think that the club has actually tried to address. The £199 season ticket is a great offer and we do have many discounts available to certain people and at certain times. The problem is that we don't have the capacity to reduce the prices enough that we improve the income to the club. Ie: Reducing to £18 or £15 would not make much difference in attendance. £12 would but our income would be much lower than 4000 @ £20. The other problem is that those who would pay only £12 / £15 will not buy a shirt at £40 (or whatever it is), a programme at £3 nor a sausage roll at £3, so it is not as though we would increase income through other revenue streams.

Re: Food,  I must admit this is a major bugbear for me. We MUST make sure that the club does not renew it's contract with the current supplier. This is one area, over time that the club could make money from, but it requires a total rethink, some investment and creativity. Lets get Jamie Oliver (or similar) involved or local quality food. Get some specialist in, who can offer Chiili, pig roasts, currys, stir fries etc etc. It does not have to be all sh1t burgers and pies. It should be geared up to sell quickly at a reasonable price and encourage fans every way possible to buy. Our programmes constantly wins award (well done Gareth) so why can't our food.

Radio Cobblers, like much else, could do with a shake-up. Those two guys are very committed to the club, I will speak with them to see how / what we can improve.

50-50 regularly often has an old player doing the draw. HT entertainment is always quite difficult, I though clubs mights have done something with an olympic theme. Ie: Running races or something?Huh?

There was the Polish guy who got the crowd going but he was very drunk and a danger to himself and those around, hence why he was ejected. Would like to at least see Clarence more involved again

Discounting is always an easy way but has quite dramatic effects on profits, I would rather spend that money on improving staffing etc etc. I wonder how many were put off the Gillingham game by the weather and thought, 'I am not going to stand in that rain to get a ticket from the west stand portakabin'.

I am sure no matter what the football is like, there will be plenty for the moaners to moan about, ask Man City / Man U fans Grin

I want us to have a club to be proud of and that has a positive influence within the town.

I agree with the hamster eating chaps post.

Regarding the food side of things I've emailed Lindleys numerous times but just get ignored.

I agree the catering inside Sixfields is an absolute disgrace.

Most clubs get the foundations in place such as revenue streams through food and drink  and other promotional activities to get the fans on side, happy to turn up and financially support there club. then with the extra revenue push for promotion.
we seem to be trying to gain promotion on the bones of our arses. Other than the odd 50/50 ticket my sixfields spend is nil, because there's nothing available to spend it on. Last season I didn't miss a home match, I've missed both Tuesday this season, it means going directly to sixfields and going hungry and thirsty, No thanks.

The revenue should be maximised from these sort of things, at the moment we are pretty much minimising it!

Hammy, actually my posts have very little to do with the playing side.

My problem with the playing side is that we do little to entertain and obviously don't win enough  Grin Grin Grin Grin

I am going at it from the other angle, if we can improve off the field, then that can only help on the pitch.

People moan about the atmosphere, which is bad because fans are constantly let down, off and on the pitch.

Totally agree with what you say re catering, 100%, it's time to address some of these issues, stop making excuses, roll our sleeves up and tackle the issues.

To tackle the issues we need help, I am not asking DC to throw £10000's, need more volunteers, who want to make a difference, who want to see us improve as a club.

You say you know what you are talking about re catering, PM me about your suggestions as this is something I really want to change, we have to force the club not to take the easy option.

It's all about bottom line. If enough people stop eating the Lindleys overpriced naff fare, then the club would sit up and take notice. But there are queues for the tat, so they'll simply continue. The club has nothing to do with that part of catering, Lindleys pay them lots of money for the franchise and beyond that the club couldn't give a sh*t. If we get bird-poo sandwiches but carry on buying them, the club gets its dosh and asumes all is well.

The other problem is that people who offer genuine help to the club usually end up feeling abused or ignored or taken for granted - so most help usually fades away...I once offered to help get the PA system sounding better, but it was a case of "No thanks, we're waiting for redevelopment." A shame, because with a couple of tweaks on the mic system and a higher quality waveband, there's every chance it could sound instantly comprehensible, although obviously something does need to be done to find an accomplished matchday host to actually speak into the microphone!

I've known of tradespeople who have given lots of free time and materials to the club, but many have ended up feeling really bogged off at how they are treated.

Fans of both sides should be properly welcomed and made to feel valuable (as indeed they are, if only for their money) throughout: with a bit of decent research some interesting facts and figures could be given out, very short pre-recorded clips with players could be used, there could be interactive texting, and Cardoza's voice should be used with a series of pre-recorded clips to thank us for being there etc. etc.

A big screen is vital, a simple one is not that expensive...supporters would happily contribute to it just to see their name flashing up now and again...the Trust could easily co-ordinate such a venture. But no, that warm bond between supporter and club does not come over in the matchday experience.

I'd like just to come back with some clarification, because I'd hate the matchday hospitality catering and experience to be tarred with the same brush as Lindleys general catering which is from the kiosks; I have experienced what Paul and his team do in the hospitality restaurant 4 times in the last few seasons, and it is a great experience. Very occasionally it seems a bit penny-pinching (some of the table mementoes are a bit cheap, half-time tea and coffee ran out a couple of times) but by and large the staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food is good value, the quizzes etc. well run, and the people on the mic in the restaurant do a good job. The club can be proud of the way it has turned it round to be something worth having, and all in a difficult to operate concrete and breeze-block shell.
But of course most fans never see that side of the club.

100% agree. DC made a crass mistake when he dumped Tony Ansell. There was nothing wrong with the food he offered and it was certainly better than the pre-cooked re-heated gloop they offer. He's a genuine Cobblers fan and put his heart into the job. It was taken off him purely on the basis that Lindleys were cheaper and I suspect that sums up the thinking at the club right now. It was a short sighted bad business decision based on the worst of all criteria. Give him the contract back now.

Couldn't agree more
I suffer a bit with constipation nowadays and I never had that problem after half time on Saturdays stood on the hotelend.
Judging by the smell during the second half of matches I wasn't the only one Grin

It's ironic when the club urge people to support their local club they employ caterers based in Stoke.

Agree with most of that Steve. I'm not knocking anyone who gives their time / materials for little or no cost, but you're right in how these people then feel taken for granted.

I really think the main thing that the club needs to sort out is the PA system and Radio Cobblers, I think it actually KILLS the atmosphere rather than trying to build it up. The dross songs, interrupted only by the type of crack that Hospital Radio would be embarrassed by, rarely puts me in the mood for a football match. - I can well imagine the players coming out the tunnel, feeling the "atmosphere" that's been created, and feeling less than up for it, which is counter-productive all round.
