Hi all

I am a mod from www.weststandviews.com an independant Southend utd supporters site, and was wondering if you could spare a few minutes for a q/a session which will put up on the site for general viewing, we have already had a good response frorom other away teams, so I hope you keep it going, also feel free to register with us and your thoughts for saturday we are a friendly bunch and already have a few away fans coming back with their teams thoughts

Name The Artlenock Cobbler

Age 51 years young but in no way look it.  Roll Eyes

Years supporting the club. On and off 41 years, although mostly on.

Favourite match.  Beating Shrewsbury away 2-3 to secure our league status in 93 after being 2 down at half time. 3-0 at Sixfields V Bristol Rovers to get to Wembley for the second consecutive year and 1-0 with virtually the last kick of the game at Wembley to gain promotion v Swansea in our first ever appearance at the twin towers. All great games/occasions for different reasons.

Worst match.
There's been a few. 0-1 at home to Sc***horpe on 'Black Friday' in the mid 90's sticks in the mind for the dire football but for feeling gutted, losing on penalties to Mansfield in the 04 play offs. We lost the home leg 2-0 and were  leading 3-0 just after half time  at Field Mill when..... I'm still too injured by it all to continue, especially as we lost in the semi's the following year to a team whose name escapes me.  Wink

Favourite player of all time at Northampton. Neil Grayson. Never gave less than 100% and could score.

Prediction of score saturday.
0-3 to Sarfend with an Adam Barnett hat trick instead of just scoring  the one or two he usually does against us.

Views on Luke Gutteridge.
Good on his day.

What the chairman like at the club. As bald as me. Well he would be if he did the decent thing and shaved what hair he has left off. It takes years off you you know.  Kiss

Who's your local rivals. Peterborough Utd and Northampton Saints RFC

Prediction who will win Div 2.
Northampton Town

Prediction who will finish bottom of Div 2  Barnet

Whats the general atmosphere like as a home fan when the team are losing,is it against the team or does the crowd get behind the Cobblers. It depends on how crap the ref is, how dirty the opposition is, if we are trying or not and where we are in the league as to which way it goes atmosphere wise.

Where do you see Northampton in five years time.
About where we are now.

Whats Northampton catering like. I don't waste my money on overpriced crud.

How can the club increase the support of the club.
Short term, win games and  scoring lots of goals. Long term expand the stadium and do lots of deals to get some of the huge local population in.  It all takes money though.

You can buy one player in the whole world who would it be. Wayne Rooney although the town has all but eradicated it's prostitution industry so it may be a job to lure him here.

You can bring back one ex Northampton player who would it be and why.
Martin Aldridge, because it would mean that his life hadn't ended so tragically at the  age of 25.

Many thanks for your time, and I wish you good luck for the season, again apologies if this upsets the mods on the board, it has not meant too, and please feel free to register on our site for good banter during the week on www.weststandviews.com
