At the moment?

For me, Aidy Boothroyd.

I should add I don't just mean asset in the way of playing staff who would earn the most transfer fees, hence me picking Aidy.

As you have asked who rather than what I presume you are referring to an individual.

In financial terms;

1. If we are running a balanced budget (as opposed to one entirely dependant on the support/investment of an individual or other non-playing entity) then that excludes DC to a degree (I acknowledge his support in the past has been entirely essential and continues to be relevent).

2. AB is clearly a fine manager (key in saving our league status and our performance going forward). The vast majority of our support believe he is better than we could get elsewhere. As I am sure he is ambitious and would take a better (in his mind) job if offered elsewhere I value him at a years salary (his salary) as he is on a 12 month rolling contract (I believe we have been told this).

3. In terms of our current squad (those contracted to us) the individual who would probably attract the largest bid is Alex Nicholls (young enough to improve, on a 2 year contract, our top goal scorer season to date and real pace that would make him a threat at a higher level). Honourable mentions in this category are due to Bayo (bums on seats, fine goal scoring record with us, possibly available in January for a modest fee) and Widdowson (solid left back still just about young enough to improve). If you want a long shot Moult looks like he may come very good and is still very young.

In terms of our current side the most valuable players are Huws and Lee Nicholls. Nicholls has (for me) already provided overwhelming proof of his abilities and I would value him in the £ millions. Wigan must be delighted with him.

Our biggest long-term assets are our history and our supporters - the two things that money can't buy.
Accountants would call them intangible assets  -  we can't sell them but we can do more to create value from them.

Fans without a doubt.

Ian Atkins once said Christian Lee would be our first £1m player. Did Atkins and the board look at the balance sheet and put in an adjustment?

I have to agree that relating to playing staff then Lee Nicholls would be the clubs biggest asset (shame we dont own him). Could genuinely see him playing for England at some stage, has an air of confidence that is beyond his years. Highlighted by the fact has the most points by far in the MOTM vote.

Cardoza, without whom the club would have been in the hands of a conman or might have ceased trading by now.

Who do you think is worth a cash transfer value at the club and how much do you think they are worth? I'll start with Alex Nicholls, looks to be progressive and decent technique. I reckon 50-80k

Id agree with Nicholls, id also put Joe Widdowson in that category, around the 80k mark. Still young with a chance to progress further.

Bayo could be worth anything but the club aren't great at creating a buzz about a player. In fact it's always do they want him or don't they with Bayo  Huh?

Yes, Bayo actually gives the Cobblers some street cred, which they've never had before in my lifetime.
