Will the number of Cobblers fans going to Liverpool be the biggest support ever, in the history of Northampton Town, for a midweek game away? In my 45 years of following the club I can only recall a FA Cup tie at Newcastle to get near. Any stato's out there to shed light on this historic occasion? 3,000 plus sold in two days and before they go on general sale is brilliant.

Over the entire 90 minutes I reckon us 59 at Pool will have made more noise than the 6,000 at Liverpool will. Will alomost be like a home game for us...sitting down, nice and quietly. I can't recall any greater number of away Town fans attending a mid-week game in my time supporting the club.

Record or no record it is a wonderful thing for the club to have this much interest regardless. A big gate at Southend is good news also and hopefully some will make it a regular occurrence. Big gate at Sixfields rarly makes for a good result but lets keep this positive.
You're all welcome for one home game and hopefully more. No need for anything negative or elitist for being one of the 59. It was a long way on a week night not the Charge of the Light Brigade.

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

I can well believe it mate...it'll be like MK away when we had 3000 and you get frowned upon by some for trying to get behind the team....I just hope the roar of the kop will inspire a few to actually support the team verbally rather than just sit there as though they are watching snooker!

I wonder how many of those 59 actually travelled from Northampton, I know several are already based in the north? Surely only those that travelled over the 400 miles deserve true adolation.

Mate we could be playing Real Madrid in the Champions league final with electrodes attached to genitalia and we would still be quiet.... Only Leicester away recently gives me tingle knowing we got behind the team properly... I wait with baited breath as to how our "loyal" support does....I may get some hymn sheets printed for the newly converted Teyn fans... I really hope that all the new or non regular people going up start going regularly...even 20% of them would be good!

Newcastle (a) back in 87 was originally billed as 6000 travelling..including planes from Carlsberg and Barclaycard! However, given all the postponements..ended up being just under 3000...was one of the best sights though..seeing 50+ coaches being escorted onto the motoway..somewhere near Washington. As for ''tingling support''...Think being a bit harsh...Reading a couple of weeks back (certainly lower tier) was pretty rousing..Bolton..Sunderland.. ...I was certainly hoarse afterwards...as will be tomorrow..and of course at Anfield!

More recent ones for me....Fulham away, Watford Away, Man City away when it was 0-0 i think, Leicester away in the FA Cup at Filbert Street, although we got dicked. There has been quite a few where we have had decent followings.

I was at Maine Road for the Man City game and I think there was around 2k, Roy Hunter should have had a penalty but the ref bottled it and we drew 0-0

Yep, all good turnouts but none of these were midweek games as the original post said.

Lincoln away 1976. The old supporters club alone ran over 50 coaches. I think the official attendance was over 14000, but at the Cobblers' end one of the turnstiles was kicked down and heaven knows how many were there that night.
