I agree that it's great we take huge numbers up there (to an extent).
However, as I was taking a leak just before half time yesterday when some smelly old man came in and said (and I quote)....

" This is so f-in boring, I don't need a P I've just come in here for a break from this crap....the last time I watched the Cobblers was 1974, but I've come up today so I can get my ticket for Liverpool"....

As you may guess....my response was less than polite and ended like this.....   "off then and watch sky sports you armchair twat....this is Sixfields not the Nou Camp, if you think it's crap, give your Liverpool ticket away to someone who will enjoy it...save you having another bad day....w&nker!"

Reminds me of THE Tranmere match when similar conditions applied and we were being asked by people in our own section "which team were the Cobblers"  Cool

Not watching the cobblers since 1974? What's his excuse?  Possibly just come out of a 36 year coma?

Thanks Ralph  Smiley Kiss
There's one or two people around who deserve games like this and over the years have paid their dues. As you may be aware Dav I know Liverpool well and can't help harking  back to the old days (hell even Danny Baker is back on radio 5!), pretty sure back in the day we just might have been the first car ex-Northamptonshire to cross under the Mersey tunnel on the 22nd to sample some of the great watering holes up there. Look out for me though mate we could just share a "back of stand premier league rip off beer". Of course  that is unless Sixfields Travel (yes really) gets around Anfield in time for a swift walk to Everton and a drink in the local 'Spoons.

Weren't there 3,000 of us at Crystal Palace a few seasons ago. I can remember a load of us in a bar, singing our heads off.

I class myself as a fair weather supporter for over 40 years now I have been to matches on and off at dependent upon circumstances in my life, family, cash, job etc. Hopefully I will be at Anfield subject to family, cash, and other things, by the way the only other game I have been to this season is Torquay away. On the plus side I only live about 20 mins drive from Liverpool so at least I will be in bed by 1030 pm. I have no problem with being a fair weather supporter. By the way Grove I remember being at the Man City game in the 80's did we loose 3.1, I thought it was the late 70's but I might be wrong. Big away following that night I remember our journey up in a Vauxhall Viva took forever. Grin

Can't believe he didn't bother with other bandwagon games too.  Manu, Wembley, Spurs, West Ham... to name a few.

Rotherham was a few.

I remember that Autoglass boro gamethat kett cobb reminded us all of earlier in the thread well. First derby away day, I was in The Bridge for roughly about 2 minutes before the window went, followed by the stage curtains. There were jsut 1000s that went ans all for a noddy cup game too. I don't think they expected that many at all, people just kept turning up

I heard The Bridge was a gay pub is this right?
I do remember this game was that the night the car park ticket machine got booted over in the car park near and under the viaduct arches.

Must have been about that at Sunderland a couple of ago?

I think we've taken about over 1,000 to Notts County on a Tuesday night a couple of times for re-arranged games and who can forget 2,500 to Mansfield on that Weds/Thurs night in the play-offs too.

I went to that game, remember they had to open more turnstiles due to the sheer numbers of Cobblers fans.....think it was around 2000 out of a gate of 5500 for the Quarter Final match

There wont be many teams that take more than their average home gate, 150 miles up the road for a mid week mickey mouse tie no matter who they were playing. We have a very strange fan base dynamic, strange being the operative word.
