Used to be Southampton we worked out who were the team we had gone longest without playing against, then we drew them about half a dozen times in a few years and if I'm right in thinking I think it was between Liverpool and Everton for the next? With the game next week should be Everton then shouldn't it? When was the last time we played Everton? or Chelsea?

Good call Insider!!

It is indeed Arsenal....28th September 1965. Back in the day when you regularly met the same team in quick succession. Was only the 10th game of the season but the second against the Gunners.

Chelsea was even more bizarre, playing them at home on the 27th December 1965 then the away game the very next day!! Our pampered footballers of today don't know how good they've got it!!

Everton completes the trio of top flight clubs we've never met since our brief flirtation with the top division..... we did indeed lose the first game of the season to them....5-2 at Goodison and then lost the home game against them on 29th January 1966.

And from my not too scientific research, I deduce that the next club in line are Derby County, who we last met on 14th January 1967 as we were falling back through the divisions.

I think the above research is correct. Good work!

Are we only talking about League clubs? A brief bit of research myself pulled up Hastings United, who we faced in the Cup during the 50's and are still in existence. Smiley
