Another player whom we should have kept....I was very disappointed when he left us. In fact over the years, I've got a fair few right...Morrison included. I remember people on here (majority) saying he was too slow, his finishing was crap etc. There was always a 'good player' raging inside him whilst he was here, shame it didn't emerge quicker!

I think the thing with Morrison is that he was still young when with us and to be honest most of the time when he got a chance he was poor.

Remembering old strikers has led me to recall that we actually spent money on Darryn Stamp, dear oh dear.

Mate who is an Inverness fan says that Billy is playing very well and scoring regularly. Letting him go was Gary Johnson's worst mistake i.m.o and will come back to bite us on the bum when he gets transferred on from Inverness.

It's got Terry Butcher the Manager of the Month for the SPL.  Cool

I agree and and you can probably guess from the constant updates on the ex cobbler goalscoring table he is a player who I've kept an eye on. I remember the term 'natural goalscorer' was constantly applied to Shaun Harrad but despite a good scoring record at his previous club I never saw that in his all round play, but Billy McKay for me was a player that continuely made the right runs, good movement off the ball and a player who got in the right areas. He was never going to create a lot of chances for himself (so it didn't help playing in such a poor cobblers side) and was always going to rely on others, but in a good team like it looks Inverness are he is a player that will be a major asset.
I'm not saying he was ever a world beater for us, but for me the signs were so so obvious that he was developing into a good player. I was gutted that we let him go especially as I doubt he was ever on any sort of wages at all. I also agree about Morrison and would add Lee Williamson to that aswell as players with obvious talent who were aloud to leave.

I thought McKay deserved another year but GJ being the clueless poison dwarf he is let him go. GJ later signed Bas Savage which shows what a poor judge of strikers he is

Dont agree, but I see your point. Hindsight as far as Im concerned wasn't need for either Billy M or Steve M. Micky Warner...take your point. Scott Cross..he showed nothing and I never saw a decent player within him. I've got it wrong a few times....I really thought Lee Colkin and Matt Parsons would 'make it'. We all see a different player at the end of the day. But rest assured, in Snedker and Hornby we have two brilliant prospects that need the time and support to ensure a decent return is made by all parties concerned!

Steve Morrison admits that he deserved to be let go by the club & it was the best thing to happen as he had to work to prove himselve instead of messing up his future as for McKay didnt see what everyone can now but then football is littered with players who clubs have let go @ an early age & have gone on to prove that club wrong IE Kevin Phillips (Southampton)is 1 that springs to mind

Scored a cracking goal at Anfield also lost his place after playing well when he broke his arm.
