You cant say that to the Bayo lovers. I said the exact same thing and got destroyed for it when it is obviously true. All he is doing is securing a move away come the end of the season. So obvious but the Bayo fans cannot see it and I think that is why he has been dropped by AB. He isn't even as good as everyone makes out. People are totally mad suggesting that he may move to the Championship or a top League 1 side. On what basis? I have also read some suggesting 'legend' in reference to him. They have obviously only been watching the cobblers for a few years because he definitely isn't a cobblers 'legend'.
If he had moved it was like the world would have fallen in and we would never recover. He is one man in a football club. Maybe it is the age of some of the Bayo lovers, I dont know but to suggest we wouldn't get promotion without him is stupid. He isn't the bloke that is the big difference, sure in last seasons shower he was, but he isn't now. Believe or not but other areas of the pitch are more important than up front eg. defence. Cheers.
Defece is more important than up front . Whos going to score your goals or are you looking to draw all games 0-0 .

Its no coincidence that Bayo is loved by the fans of most the clubs he has played for. Hes a good goalscorer and a great character.

Of course it is, that is why every manager aims to build from the back. Ones that dont eg. Gary Johnson's shower, get battered by other sides regardless of how good you are up front. If the opposition cannot score then you will always win games. Your forwards could be average but you will always win. Of course you always want good midfielders/forwards as well but before all that build a solid base for the team, standard stuff. Without a decent back four you do not win anything in football, but you can get away with average forwards and still be near the top by nicking 1-0's etc... Think Torquay a few seasons back and also think Chelsea defending against Barcelona the other season. Would a poor Chelsea back four have helped Chelsea win the cup? No it could have been a 6-2 or something because Barcelona battered them for long periods regardless of who was up front.
You can obviously put an arguement for both sides, market forces though would suggest that attack is more important with strikers going for much more money than defenders.

I understand what you are saying and I agree with to a point but there is a saying in football which is the opposite to your build from the back theory..... "The best form of defence is attack"

Exactly my thoughts abington,im old enough to remember Ian Rush playing for Liverpool in his prime he worked just as hard on his defending from the front as he did scoring goals.Could do with one like him to play up front with Bayo.

Just to bring this thread back to rumours Ben Coker has his contract mutually terminated. Time for adb to raid another one of his former clubs?

Frederick Ingram "Fanny" Walden (1 March 1888 – 3 May 1949) was an English professional footballer who played on the right-wing for Northampton Town, Tottenham Hotspur and at international level for England during the 1910s and 1920s.

Except that Henderson is available as his contract was terminated before the deadline. I have heard from several people, who are usually right about these things that we have offered him a deal here.

I would have absolutely no idea what to make of that if true. He was an England age-group player, was pretty terrible when here, was an ever-present for Colchester in League One for a good while, and has now had his contract terminated by them...??!? Would the real Ian Henderson please step forward?!

His last spell here was a bit like Jake Robinsons current spell with us.
Would have no idea what to think if Ian Henderson came 'home'.

Ian Henderson is one of my least favourite players of all time. I think I would have done a better job than him during his time with us. Dreadful.
Obivously he has gone on to do a bit better since then (no idea how), but his core attributes were poor, and cant see what he would bring to the existing squad to improve it. Therefore, I must assume/hope that this is garbage.
* Just realised Boothroyd signed him for Colchester. Automatically gone down in my estimation now Aidy.
