After discussions with NTFC Supporters Ltd the club have announced that they will have Greene King IPA real ale available in Carrs Bar at £2.75p a pint for the Dagenham & Redbridge game on 1st Jan and Fleetwood match on 5th Jan. This will be available whilst stocks last and if it's a success , it will be stocked regularly. I hope all you real ale guys will come in and support this , as I said before ,the club will stock virtually anything if it's viable.

I'm sorry to put a downer on things, but it's going to take even longer now to get served before the game, while having to wait for them to be pulled.

It's a step in the right direction though. Maybe they could have a separate area for the real ale to speed things up? Any progress on getting a better selection of carlsberg beers up in the west concourse?

Well done the club. Normally use the tavern but at £2.75 will definately give it a go. Just hope the game is on or they will be stuck with it.

I worked in pubs for a few years in the past, if done correctly real ale should not take longer than other beers. Infact products like lager stored at the wrong temperature will take longer to pour, don't even think about comparing it to that black crap from over the water.

Greene King..Real ale??? Oh, yes, sorry should be grateful for anything! Black Sheep or Fullers bottles if they still have them! As for viable..still don't buy that excuse...Sutton Utd's bar (not full time pub/bar either) had three decent ales on. As said, will still support Carr's Bar - hopefully with above bottles (Black Sheep hasn't been available last couple of times) but Greene King is the worst of the worst..swerve it in the Tavern!

Spot on. Whenever I even look like getting close to the door I am glared at. Do they stock a nice pint of WKD?

I will support Carrs bar and buy the real ale but IPA isn't one of the best ales... I would have prefered one of Greene Kings pubs other ales like Old Speckled Hen or Abbot ale. I know that the club are tied to beers supplied by Carslberg but IPA is no where near as good as the two ales I have mentioned

I really like Rekorderlig cider, I think it's the nicest out there. But I don't expect Carr's Bar to stock it though just because I like it. Strongbow is an alternative that will do me OK for a couple before Kick Off. Some people need to get some perspective, they are not going to stock every single type of real ale. Taste is a subjective thing, but IPA is an alternative that wasn't there before, and it's a small step in the right direction (not that you'd think it judging by the reaction )

Just knew the Greene King easy garbage option was coming from the beginning! Was really hoping just ONE LOCAL (one barrel even) Frog Island, Great Oakley, Nobbys..any of those and others...would be in like a shot!

Sorry I'm only quoting what David Cardoza said at the last open forum "If it's viable we'll sell it" were HIS words , why should we doubt him? There is obviously a demand for real ale at Sutton , so it must be viable otherwise they wouldn't stock it , if there is the demand at NTFC they would stock "3 decent ales".

Cardoza said they'd have considered Frog Island if it wasn't for the deal with Carlsberg. I know that doesn't help you, but tis the truth

Realistically, you need something not too strong so that the drivers can have their one. If you have Old Speckled Hen, the drivers won't bother as it will put them over the limit. Whilst there are better beers, Green King IPA would be my choice rather than a keg beer or a lager - if they were my options, I wouldn't bother.

The consumption of any alcohol is not recommended before or during the act of driving, irrespective of whether you believe that you are over the limit or not...

Coolcat seems like a bit of a real ale buff. Might be worth the originator of this thread running the choices by him. I like Batemans myself but i cant see it being on the Carlsberg list.
