The net effect of such an inexplicably sh1te performance (from virtually the whole lot of 'em) is that it puts you off going. I had great hopes of a hard-won point or even three at Chesterfield, but when they capitulate so early on it makes you wonder what is going on. I had intended to make the long drive to Sixfields this coming Saturday, but I doubt I will. If our team can't make the effort, I don't think I'll bother either.

One bad performance after 3 straight home wins and now you can't be bothered to go to Sixfields. I only go to home games due to my personal circumstances but I dont stay away because we had one shit game.  I even went last season when we were truly shit during the GJ times. I was also there in the real dark days of administration in the early 90's.  I am a NTFC fan through good and bad - mainy bad times I admit

You just gave me the shivers reminding me of them. Never missed a home game in those days. Goodness knows how many of us kept the faith. We were poor in every respect !

Just about the only lighthearted moment at the game on saturday came when some eejit down the front chucked what looked like a sausage roll at Clarke Carlisle when their third goal went in and was ejected by a couple of stewards who didn't look too sure the offence should result in him being ejected.

Do they sell sausage rolls at Sixfields?

That was quite comical. The chants of 'how sh*t must you be, you can't build a church' & ' we are Northampton, we glow in the dark' also made me smile

I saw the throwing incident as well. It didn't look like much of a throw, really. More an angry flail of the arms and an escaping sausage roll!

In our last 10 games home and away, we've W6 D1 L3, collected 19 points and scored 22 goals.

So we got a hiding on Saturday. Every club gets one from time to time. The squad will no doubt go through what happened and take steps to prevent it happening again.

I think there needs to be a sense of perspective from some people on this thread. We have come on in leaps and bounds in the last 12 months, from being in free fall and absolute certainties for relegation to a decent, upper mid table side with a realistic chance of finishing in the top 7. We've also got some excellent players other than Akinfenwa such as Widdowson, Hackett and A Nicholls.

I agree that this league is poor, and there's no reason why we shouldn't do better, but surely some perspective is needed given the context of Aidy's recent work?

I completely agree about the perspective thing...but it's really difficult to sit through performances like Bristol Rovers away and Chesterfield away and be anything other than bemused and just a little bit pissed off...the first half on Saturday was like one of the worst days under Gary Johnson in that it was a total shambles, and I think you need to have a bit of sympathy with the frustration of those that put time, money and effort into going to witness it and are not very impressed. You're right though, overall things are very much improved.

Good post. The test will be how we come back from it. After the fiasco at Barnet we put a decent run together. While it was painful to watch, if it gets the desired reaction it may be worthwhile

Gor, I'm glad a couple of others are going to Aldershot. Their fans behind the goal scare the pants off me. I've been to Milwall and most other 'hot spots' but for me Aldershot fans make all others look like pussycats. Evil

I'll be there at their three sided ground, a very local one for me which wouldn't have been possible if it had remained on the Saturday.  Wink

Your post is misleading - I sat just two rows behind the "Sausage Thrower" to the left of the goal. It was clearly a random throw and not aimed at CC who was in the centre spot. Unfortunately the "missile" landed near Langmead but further on from him was dear old Luke who at a guess was the intended recipient. Later I learned that the thrower was ejected for Offensive Language. To cap it all the "the thrower" was in the Royal Navy and was on one of the Coaches.
