I didn't go to Aldershot but judging by comments by some of 142 fans that did go Jake had a good game. I think he has looked good in the home games as he works tirelessly and AB seems impressed as he has started him since he returned from his loan at Luton.
Has JR done enough for AB to offer him a new contract in the summer? Or has AB already decided to let him go? I think JR has given AB a tough decision to make. If you was AB would you offer JR another year or release him??

Given that he is supposedly on very decent money, then it may well depend on which division we are playing in next year, and more importantly, just how well Jakey continues to perform for the remainder of this season.

He played very well last night, and has been for the last couple of games. If he can keep this form up until the end of the season, he could well earn himself a contract imo.

Not sure quite whats happened to Jake , the last couple of games have been a complete revelation. Maybe he has woken up and smelled the coffee. The jury for me however is still out. One swallow doesnt make a spring and how he performs for the rest of the season is key to his future here. A reversion to the sort of displays that saw him farmed out to Luton will mean the end of him as a cobbler.

It could be that being sent out to a non league club gave him a serious motivational hurry-up to preven his career dwindling down to that level.

Or that he realised that he's got 6 months left on his deal and needed to pull his finger out to put himself in the shop window for a summer move. He won't be here come August.

Ive noticed Widdowson get further forward much more often and effectively over the last few games. Robinson has definitely benefited from this, the two of them are now a dangerous route from out wide, as opposed to just having a threat from the right with Hackett.

Agreed and in turn Robbo provides defensive cover when Wedders goes forward which is an additional improvement to his game.

His performances have improved massively, which shows what the lad is capable of. At one point in the past he was very highly thought of at Shrewsbury before (for whatever reason) going right off the boil. Linking up very nicely with Widdowson these days. Great potential, will it be fulfilled, and will he stay with us? Who knows, we shall see.

Nah, I think he's honest and decent, our Jake. He's always done well in the past when he's had a good run of games and had his manager's confidence, as with Buckle. Just think he needs a bit more love maybe than most footballers. I still think when he scored twice against at Shrewsbury a couple of years back that was one of the best performances against us I've ever seen from an opposition player.

For him to stay, he shouldn't need to be more consistent than 'others', no names.

I don't think anyone at the club has ever questioned his attitude or work rate. AB simply didn't rate him when he came to the club and he's had to fight his way to get a place.

I seem to remember Aidy saying he thought Jake was a decent player when he came in. Its his form that pushed him down the pecking order.

It's a good job that he wasn't given to ICT then...
