Sorry to post this, but we need all the support we can get.

3 Years ago Leon signed a two year contract with Rushden & Diamonds, he breached the terms of his contract and was sacked. His contract had an option of a years extension. When Rushden sacked Knight he was told he could no longer play football in England until his contract had expired. This month Knight agreed to sign for Darlington F.C. after waiting out his 2 years, however Rushden are demanding a 30k fee for the player and have taken the option to extend his contract up.

This is surely against Leon's rights. Leon's trade is a footballer. This is like you being sacked from your job and then not being allowed to go on and do the same job elsewhere in the same country. It may have been the right decision to make Leon wait out the initial 2 years, but to extend his contract after sacking him and with no intentions of playing him again is surely against his rights. Hopefully we can get enough names for the PFA and Rushden to take notice.

P.S: Shame on Tadgh Purcell getting that injury, he would of been quality for you, just as he was for us last season. Good luck in League 2.

What on earth do you want that scumbag turning out for you for ? Surely you're not that desperate. Leon Knight is everything that is bad about football, you're better off without him.

Maybe we are, but this is also an infringement of his human rights just because those idiots won't let him sign for another promotion contender. He has obviously matured and he just wants to get on with his life and earn a decent living for his family.

Rushden released him, well sacked him, 2 years ago. Now they have extended a clause in his OLD contract meaning he can't sign for an English club until Summer 2011. They've become a frigging joke that club.

The FA won't get involved because their an even bigger fooking joke. The whole concept of English football needs to be seriously looked at and changed. They only care about money and the higher class teams like the Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd & Arsenal etc. They need to seriously start thinking about lower-league clubs like Darlington, Northampton etc. Look at Marlon King, Joey Barton & Lee Hughes, all went to jail for serious crimes but still allowed out to play football. There all on thousands a week. Needs to be sorted out.

By the way, good luck at Liverpool  Shocked  Smiley

Whether you think Leon Knight is a cock or not, that's a real sh*te thing for a club to do to any player. According to Knight himself on Twitter, they gave him a couple of cars and £30k in a paper bag to get him to sign, and then demanded them back in the midst of a financial crisis, and him refusing to give them back is the reason for extending his contract just to spite him, try to ruin his career, etc. Really disgraceful behaviour from a horrible little club.

Best of luck to Darlo, decent bunch of fans. Smiley

But why would they exten the contract? Think about it. They don't want him cos they sacked him. They ain't gonna pay him anything in wages so why extend his contract? Legally they may not have done anything wrong but they definitely have morally.

Just because clubs have been sacked doesn't mean he has done anything illegal does it?

My thoughts exactly, surely if they extended his contract then wages now need to be paid to him? It seems an evil way for Dimones to treat an ex player?
