I thought one of the biggest tributes to ourselves was how excited they became when they equalised. Who'd have though little Northampton Town could create such emotion?
Spot on ........... that's when it really got to me , what we had achieved

It's true to say that with most clubs theres always an element of putting lesser inferior clubs down to just being mediocre, simply because of the level they play at. In our case, Fleetwood for example, we were the big club and to us they never stood a chance given that they were mostly part-time, but i don't recall us taking it to the level that Liverpool have shown. Since reading their forum it makes its so more evident that Premiership supporters are way out of touch with the TRUE game, and they need to come out of their bubble once in awhile and realise there actually is three/four(conference) professional divisions out there, try taking in a reality check of REAL LIFE grass roots football that we see week in, week out.

NTFC losing at home to a so-called non league minnow cannot be compared to us winning away at Anfield. The gap in technical ability and lifestyles of the premier league players is light years away from our boys ability and lifestyle. No matter what team Liverpool put out (and it was a half decent one at that) they should have battered us - no excuses. Added to that, the history of Liverpool FC, atmosphere and the spiritual feel of Anfield it should never have happened but..... WE WON AT ANFIELD IN A PENALTY SHOOT OUT IN FRONT OF THE INFAMOUS KOP (HOSTILE RECEPTION AND ALL) AND THOROUGHLY DESERVED TO GO THROUGH

Just seen this tweet from Ryan Babel
"No excuses for last nite .. We weren't good enough.. And I #failed personally .. Haven't lost faith, so I keep working."
So an international player admits the cobblers were better than them :-)

Just spent an hour, while i was supposed to be working, reading through their match thread "if losing to some monkeys means the scum leaving, then I'd be happy to see a few more weeks of laughable dire sh*te." Some of them really are struggling with that big bitter pill. "Monkeys". f***ing hell.

Taken from Thisisanfield forum. Mostly self pitying crap but this tickled me. Re: POST MATCH: Liverpool 2-2 Northampton (Pen: 2-4) Northampton will be on their private jet flying home knowing they were in a game though! We took them to penalties, we nearly did them! So close! Lucky we were at home, they may well have spanked us at their place. Heads up guys. Who's next? Northampton will no doubt have an open top bus trip through the streets of their town. And they deserve it. They had the strength, the desire, the will. And they were not going to be denied. It reminds me of a team I used to watch.

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

And another accurate summary.
Well I've watched last nights game twice now & to be honest, we were not unlucky. We were beaten by the better team - whether they are 60, 600 or 60.,000 thousand places below us.
That's right scousers you better believe it!!!!

If you watch Thornton carefully at one stage he looks like he's going to start doing the Macarena.

Not from a scouser but a QPR fan Quite possibly the most predictable result of the round. Northampton are LETHAL in the League Cup. They seem to knock us out every other year, and they scalped Bolton and one or two others recently too. It's a wonder they've not won the competition. Maybe this time around. ****ing get in, Cobblers!
