"Oh me lads, you should have heard us singing

All along the Anfield Road as we watched the Cobblers winning

We'll never forget when Osman scored, the look upon their faces,

They'd just been beat by Northampton Town, Ian Sampsons Aces!"

This afternoon I expect to hear a few old favorites:

"Sort it out Sammo!"

and

"Get Gilligan off!"

Both to the tune of old men growling.

I do like SHOE ARMYas It sums up perfectly the idiosyncratic Cobblers fan. Some songs drift away after a while, but I think this one's going to stick.

SHOE ARMY sounded great today when the North and (eventually) the west sang it at the same time.

now lets just try and get it a little bit louder!!!

When I first heard it at Anfield I thought we'd signed some exotically named foreigner by the name of Shuami.  Grin

Some would say that it sums up the average Cobblers fan by being two words long.

I love SHOE ARMY, well once I understood what they were singing that is.

It has the perfect amount of irony for my taste.

SHOE ARMY.

Anythings better than the rubbish thats coming out of mouths in the top corner of the West. Fans starting and finishing a song on their own, out of tune people join in, hardly knowing the words.

Its just embarrasing

"He may look slightly overweight, Thornton, Thornton
"His finishing is f***ing great, Thornton, Thornton
"He scores a goal in every game
"And when he scores you'll hear his name
"Kevin thornton, cobblers goal machine."

copied from that blog, wanted to put a striker in there but we dont have any strikers that look over weight anymore... damn you bayo!

Said this to my cov supporting mate and he reckons this version is better:

"He may look slightly overweight, Thornton, Thornton
"He wants to be everybodys mate, Thornton, Thornton
"He likes a smoke and likes a pint
"He'll drive a car without the right!
"Kevin thornton, cobblers favourite drunk!"  Grin
