Fans v Legends Charity Match - Friday 28th May 2010 Sixfields Stadium - 7pm Kick Off

The Cobblers Fans Team, known as the Shoemakers, are due to play in a charity match at Sixfields on Friday 28th May 2010. They will face a Cobblers Staff XI including legends (Sean Parrish, Ray Warburton, Ian Sampson and Eddie McGoldrick, Phil Chard, Ian Atkins and maybe a few surprise guests also).

We are collecting donations on the night to support the charity Help For Heroes and the Jim O'Neill Mobility Fund - Suggested donation of £2 on the gate (more if you can spare it).

Help for Heroes is a wonderful charity that supports wounded soldiers.

Jim O'Neill and his dad Mick worked many hours at Sixfields carrying out various jobs and never complaining. Sadly Mick recently passed away and Jim has a muscle wasting disease and needs to raise funds for mobility equipment. Jim has been a loyal servant to NTFC and we have agreed to help.

There are still a few details to be finalised but kick off is expected to be 7pm and the final staff team players will be announced shortly. Please keep an eye out for further details.

The Shoemakers team is really hoping that you can attend the match to cheer us on and help us raise a few pounds for two worthwhile causes.

Please start publicising this to your friends/families as soon as possible, we want to get as bigger crowd as possible.  If you cannot make it, could you publicise this for us as much as possible.

Come on Mark - get John Gayle in. His daughter messaged me a little while ago about my facebook tribute page (containing the article i did for the fanzine... which was fortunately taken in relatively good humour). I can get back on to her for some contact details!

Ant has already said he's happy to mark him  Grin

Another update - everyone is invited into the bar after the match.  There is going to be a charity auction in aid of Jim O'Neill. Dennis Casey has kindly donated some of his Wembley memorabilia.

Can't wait till this one, sounds like a fantastic line-up. Getting to the ball before Sean Parrish was as good as it got for me last year, so hopefully I may even venture out of my own half this year Grin

Just a reminder that kick off is 7pm tonight.

Legends confirmed so far - Sean Parrish, Phil Chard, Ray Warburton, Ian Sampson and Dave Savage.  Northampton referee Pete Walton is taking charge of the game.

There will be a charity auction in the bar after the game with Wembley memorabilia for sale.

Not sure if you can drink by the pitch but if you can, sit behind the dugout so I can come over for a sneaky sip everytime there is a break in play.

Hope to see you there to support to great charities.

Mark

A brilliant turn-out and superb evening by the club. Legends won 3-2, I think but hopefully it was a good bit of football, and superb raffle/auction afterwards.

Not sure how much we raised for charity, but there was some serious money changing hands at the Auction.

Thanks to all who came and supported!
