I see Bury have offered a few players new contracts this week. I think despite some early results we have a talented though young and inexperienced squad that will only get better the more games they get and the more they play together. The majority of the squad is out of contract in the summer including pretty much all the key players Thornton, Osman, Davis, McKay and Jacobs. The summer transfer window seems to have been a complete shambles in recent years I just wonder if it might be worth trying to sort out a few of these contracts sooner rather than later.

Both Crackers and Billy are under 24 (not sure about the others) and if they were to move we would get a fee. No need to worry yet and our club can't afford to be sorting our squad out for years in advance. Everyone has slated Stuart Gray for putting players like Hinton, Guinan and McCready on 2 year contracts. It's been very difficult to offload them so let's not get carried away. This season is still in it's infancy, let's not waste this season thinking about the next one

I'd certainly consider giving Jacobs a new 2/3 year deal but it's far too early to be giving anyone else a new deal. If Jacobs attracts some higher league interest, then if he wanted to leave then he would wait until the summer, and the compensation we would get would probably be peanuts in comparison to what he could be worth.

I think nearer the turn of the year they may offer Crackers a new deal, a bit similar to that given to Alex Dyer, so 2.5 years is sensible. As for the rest I think the season has to pan out a bit further, settle our league position and makes any thoughts clearer around March time.
