McCarthy, who was the longest serving manager in the second tier, confirmed he would be "looking for a new challenge elsewhere"

Safer to be a manager in L2

Safer in League 2 because 2 teams go down and 4 teams go up.

Also, missing Birmingham from that list.

Am I right in thinking only Rochdale and Burton are the only clubs who haven't sacked managers but still occupy a relegation zone?

Called him not lasting the rest of the season. Dont know why they ever thought he would be a good appointment, certainly in the position they were in.

Jack Lester gone at Chesterfield too after a shocking season.

Paul Hurst and Chris Doig take over at Ipswich, didn't Doig play along side Luke Chambers for us ? I also think that Shrewsbury could struggle without them.

Yes, Doig did play alongside Chambers. You have to feel a little sorry for Shrewsbury, like us, a little success and off goes your manager.

Pretty much a nailed on certainty now. Interesting to see if the Exeter team gets broken up now too.

St Mirren's Jack Ross has left them for Sunderland

With him, Askey and Hurst and our own Austin picking up jobs, it's good to see fresh faces being given the chance rather than the same old failures from the past or some non English speaking manager from abroad
