Simon Grayson is the new Sunderland manager. Let's hope he can get them back where they belong to get more.

I hope so. I'm a huge Black Cats fan.

I think losing 3-0 at home to Huddersfield put him on the back foot from day 1!

It does appear crazy, from the outside. But after the JE saga Im less opinionated about early sackings than I would have been previously!  Grin

Michael Brown sacked by Port Vale
Gary Caldwell sacked by Chesterfield (didn't some want him here after Wilder/Page?)

Let's hope JE gets one if the latter jobs so we can stop paying him (sure I read somewhere payments stop once they get another job...might be wrong though)

Depends how the severance was worked out.....we could have given him a lump sum, we could still be paying him full whack as per his contract.

If he was on 2k a week with us contracted until July 18, and then he took a job on at Vale for 1k a week then we'd probably have to pay him the remaining 1k a week until his contract with us was due to end.

I guess we'd have to be careful with him and make sure we were still paying him properly otherwise he'd be suing for breach of contract...... Wink

John Sheridan gone from Oldham and Ady Pennock gone from the Gills, maybe an opening for JED to get back into management ?   Smiley

And closer to home, David Bell out of Corby.

Proof if proof were 'ere needed that most dogs*** seasons are the players faults...there are of course exceptions to that rather hasty statement.

He would have to be available for work to be able to claim his wage under the contract.
I believe managers usually negotiate for around half the remaining total due in a lump sum to cancel the contract and allow them to work elsewhere. There's a rumour that Johnson negotiated hard with Cardoza for a hefty pay off knowing full well he was about to walk back into the Yeovil job, which he did about three days later.
