Catch a train to Wembley central, you could also get off at Watford and catch the over ground service to Wembley central but I don't know if they accept LM tickets, although once you get to Wembley at least your ticket will let you off the station.

GPC, are they all going to Euston? I saw LM are saying to go to Euston then get the tube to Wembley Park, but my groupsave ticket says from Northampton to Wembley Central, where it appears not many trains are stopping so where does that leave me?

It means you don't have a valid ticket south of Wembley, so if you want to go via Euston on the way back you'll need to buy another ticket or use an Oyster card.

To get back you'll probably have to get on Overground at Wembley Central to Harrow & Wealdstone or Watford and then change to London Midland there.

Yes Tyler, as stated above, you can't travel into Euston, and you won't be able to get out of the barriers! You'll have to slum it with the punters on the regular trains and change at Watford!

Whats SPECIAL?  (apart from me for asking a probably obvious question  Grin)

SPECIAL means the additional trains, provided by Virgin on hire to LM which start at Northampton and run to Euston. Football SPECIALs if you like!!

Just been on the phone to London Midland, they also said I'd need to change at Watford Junction and it looks like I'll have to get the overground into Wembley Central. Cheers!

Getting back should be fun as there aren't ant LM trains stopping @ Wembley central so it means traveling down to Euston as the trains from Watford will be full

Why do you keep calling it castle station!!

Northampton's railway station is built on the grounds of Northampton castle hence it is on is called (or at least used to be called) Castle station

We're in the same boat. Gonna go to Watford Junction then go n the Overground to Wembley Central. Same for the way back as there's loads of trains taking that route

This is why I took the travel card option.... It cos £30 but worked out cheaper as I am taking my 2 lads..... Kids can be added to a travel card for just £1 each

What's the plan/obsession with Wembley Central then? I thought Euston/Baker Street was where it's at?

What happened to "let the train take the strain"? I'm making plans to get on a virgin to Rugby/Coventry if it gets too too much. maybe not that many will take the train in the end and it will end up being a doddle getting back. Grin

The cynic in me wonders if London Midland are planning to recoup the cost of hiring in the special trains by making more Cobblers fans shell out on Travelcards which are more expensive than simple Wembley - Northampton tickets by failing to provide any sort of decent service after the game.

You should have got the travel card, was only £2 extra each on a group saver, I think the problem is that wembley central has a short platform and as they are putting on extra carriages the trains will be too long.
