Look, what's up with you lot, you read what NTFC nut had to say, we were tired, totally understandable. Next week after a weeks rest, we'll go to Cheltenham and wipe them off the face of the earth. You'll see how good we are when we're not tired.  Roll Eyes

Anyway, I was in the West End watching a show when the result came through. To be honest, was unsurprised and didn't give a s***, that's how depressing this has all become. We'd played Macclesfield 12 times before yesterday and only lost twice, they were always easy meat for us. When you lose to a side like that, you're in real trouble.

PS: When was the Liverpool game? It seems like months ago now.

The day after the Anfield win, Talk Sport's Adrian Durham (Oh yes, he of s***boro) suggested that Cobblers fans should be angry that we can't replicate that desire in our league matches and cited various appalling performances already this season. He basically suggested that we were being cheated. Well, he's not wrong is he? I've witnessed players flinging themselves in front of bullets and cannonballs prepared to die for the cause at Reading and Liverpool. Yet, come 3 o'clock on a saturday and that desire is missing.

There is this arguement that we play better against footballing sides because we have more time on the ball and our quality shines through. But we are in division 4 and if we can't beat torquay, macclesfield, accrington etc then we are not going to get out of this division are we? I mean, macclesfield absolutely battered us. They played us off the park. Even if we were playing at 75% of our potential we should've beat them. Or...are we simply not as good as we think we are? Well, on paper I think we are a top 3 side in this division. Without a doubt. TOO MUCH TINKERING.

And yes Marvo, that Liverpool game is already a fading memory and our performances before and since have bloody ruined that magical night for me! Still might get a signed canvas though  Grin

Nut's argument about tiredeness doesn't stand up to scrutiny.  Winning teams want the games to come thick and fast in order to maintain momentum, even if that means playing twice a week.  Last Christmas we played three games in four days and picked up 7 points.  Between 23rd Jan and 9th Feb we played 5 games, won 3 and drew 2.  Gilligan isn't fit and Thornton is a 60 minute man and needs to be handled accordingly.  Wedderburn has played 34 minutes in the last 180 - I just don't get it.

They're professional sportsmen, at the peak of fitness and it's only the 1st weekend of October.

If they're tired, then something us very wrong with their fitness.

It's too many sprints on that rope ladder that's worn them out!

Thank fu*k we lost this game or this board would be virtually closed down this week!

We'll win at Whaddon Road and all will be quiet again next week.

Perhaps they left the ladder behind or maybe one of the players said it was packed but sneakily made sure it was safely left at Sixfields.
